Chapter 948: Fighting Void Beasts (1)

Continuing to look at the young man's expression, Sellifer eventually began to notice that the confidence on his face did not seem to be unfounded.

Slightly frowning at this sensation, the woman went through multiple thoughts and ideas in her head as to why that was the case, wondering whether that confidence came from his stats or his skills.

However, in the end, Sellifer felt that the most likely reason for his confidence was the fact that the young man before her had fought against Myth-level beings before.

Though she was uncertain whether that was truly the cause of his confidence, the fact that she came to this conclusion left Sellifer at a slight loss for words, forcing her to inwardly take a few deep breaths to compose herself.

"You really think you have what it takes to fight against a Void Beast?" asked Sellifer to Valyr once more out of slight concern. "I'm sure you already have tons of experience fighting against opponents either one or two class ranks higher than you."

"After all, the Four Pillars' Inheritance is designed that way," said the woman, to which Noel faintly nodded in agreement. "Only those who can punch above their grade are eligible to go far there."

"However, the experience you have fighting against an opponent at the peak of Rank 5 means nothing when you're up against a true Myth-level being." At this point, Valyr looked at Sellifer in silence, his current expression slightly beginning to waver.

"With that, I ask you once more."

"Are you sure you wanna fight against Void Beasts at your current level?" Sellifer returned the look back to Valyr, looking at him directly in the eyes. "You could attempt it some other time, you know? Perhaps at the peak of Rank 4, or at the peak of Rank 5."

For a while after that, the young man went silent, the gears in his mind turning as he pondered over what he should do.

In the end, Valyr gave Sellifer a wide smile as he replied, "Whether or not I end up winning in a fight against a Void Beast, I'd still do it."

"I have confidence in my capabilities, plus the Four Pillars' Inheritance has given me a taste of fighting against Myths at a weaker state than I currently am," he continued, his words causing Sellifer to slightly widen in surprise as she understood what he meant.

"Sure, that experience may not be equal to fighting an actual Myth-level being, but it at least gives me an idea of where my strength stands against them."

"I'd say I have a decent chance at defeating one." Valyr let out a bit of laughter. "Of course, only those at the beginning of Rank 6, I presume."

"In any case, if I end up getting defeated by the Void Beast instead... don't I have you to protect me?" Saying these words, the young man let out a bit more laughter, prompting Noel to look at the young man with a wry smile.

On the other hand, Sellifer gave Valyr a blank look in response to those words, her mind processing what the young man just told them.

With a long sigh, she returned a faint smile back to the young man as she nodded. "If you put it that way, then there really is no reason for me to be concerned."

"I'll accompany you, then," said Sellifer soon after, releasing a bit of her energy after that to conjure a clone that moved and acted just like her.

With both Noel and Valyr looking at this feat with amazement and awe, she then proceeded to infuse a bit more of her power into the clone, allowing it to take a more corporeal state.

Sighing out in relief as she nodded in satisfaction, Sellifer then had the clone sit near Noel, causing both Valyr and Noel to blink a few times in slight confusion.

Of course, it did not take long for them to understand what was going on, immediately coming to the conclusion that the current arrangement was far safer for Valyr.

Plus, as someone who already had control over Abyssal Energy, Noel didn't really have the need for that much protection.

"I'll be taking the lead." After making sure that everything was prepared for their small excursion into the Void World, Sellifer went ahead and grabbed the light fixture she made before proceeding to head into the blanket of darkness that surrounded them.

Feeling the soothing sensation of the light gradually become weaker the farther Sellifer got from them, Valyr glanced at Noel, his gaze asking the latter if he'd be fine.

"Don't worry about me too much, you brat." Noel let out a chuckle as he felt his heart warm up from the concern. "This world is like the Spearman Guild to me. I'm familiar with every nook and cranny here as if it were the back of my hand."

"Plus, I have the Divine One's clone to protect me if necessary," he continued, releasing a bit of his Abyssal Energy to give Valyr the small push he needed to follow after Sellifer.

"Now go. Can't be having you getting on the Divine One's nerves like me."

Hearing those words, Valyr spared one last look at Noel before shifting his gaze to where Sellifer was, inwardly praying that the old man was successful in at least making headway to forming some stronger form of energy.

After that, he activated [Flash of the Azure Dragon], immediately catching up to the woman who'd already traversed a couple of kilometers within that timespan.

"Took you a while to get here." Seeing Valyr appear beside her, Sellifer infused a bit more energy into the light fixture she had, weakening the odd sensation the blanket of darkness radiated around them.

At the same time, it increased the radius of what they could see within the Void World, prompting Valyr to start looking at this odd world once more.

If one were to ignore the fact that the Void World shrouded one's sight in a blanket of pure darkness, the layout of the Void World was more or less similar to the layout of the Shadow Plane.

However, unlike the Shadow Plane, its characteristics were more similar to Veldanyr, losing the Shadow Plane's uniqueness of having both its nature and ecosystem be the exact opposite of what went on in Veldanyr.

Gazing at their surroundings illuminated by Sellifer's light, Valyr felt that the Void World was incredibly close to his first thoughts of what the Shadow Plane was.

'Veldanyr could be considered the light, while the Void World could be considered the darkness,' thought the young man to himself, only for an errant thought to soon cross his

mind.

'Wait, since the Void World lost the topsy-turvy nature of the Shadow Plane, then does that mean the weakest type of Void Beasts here are the rabbits?'

Curious as to whether his hypothesis was correct, the young man kept the thought to himself for the meantime as the two continued to roam around the Void World in search for a suitable

Void Beast.

Of course, to pass the time while continuing their search, the two struck up a conversation, with Sellifer surprisingly asking Valyr about a certain part of what he said before they

departed.

"You mentioned earlier that the Four Pillars' Inheritance gave you a taste at what it's like to fight against Myth-level beings," said the woman, briefly looking at Valyr before continuing to search for a beast. "Are you perhaps talking about the Trial of Nine Stars?" "Yeah." Valyr nodded, his next words leaving Sellifer at a loss for words. "I got all the way to the end. It still kinda irks me that they had me fight against the eighth and ninth opponent

together."

"Really?" Sellifer looked at the young man with both incredulity and curiosity, her bearing as a Divine-level being nowhere to be seen at this point. "They might not have the powers of a true Myth-level being, but they do have the strength of one. How did you defeat them?"

"Luck." Valyr bitterly smiled. "Tons of luck."

Saying that, he then briefly narrated how he went all out against those two opponents, only for his attacks to all come crumbling down when up against those two. Naturally, he omitted the fact that he had tapped into the Shard of Defiance's strength at the time, instead deciding to mention that the two had a glaring weakness he decided to exploit. Sellifer could only reevaluate her impression of Valyr once more after that, faintly nodding as she said, "I guess there is basis for your confidence. The fact that you won against those two is already a feat almost no one can replicate."

"But that doesn't mean you should underestimate these Void Beasts," she continued. "I'm trying my best to look for Void Beasts that are on the cusp of becoming a Myth, but if worse comes to worst, you'd really have to fight against a Void Beast at the early levels of Rank 6." "I'll keep that in mind." Valyr nodded at those words, mentally preparing himself for the fight that he could possibly consider as the most difficult in his journey so far. Fortunately, with Sellifer's Divine-level strength, it only took around a couple of hours after they left Noel for them to find a Void Beast that hovered around their minimum criteria. Unfortunately, that Void Beast had already transcended mortality and was now considered a bona fide Myth.

Nevertheless, Valyr still planned on giving it his all.
