Chapter 949: Fighting Void Beasts (2)
Chapter 949: Fighting Void Beasts (2)
After Sellifer found what seemed to be a suitable target for the young man, she went ahead and infused more of her power into the light fixture, expanding the radius of the light to at least over ten times what it originally was.
At the very moment she did that, a greater portion of the Void World was made visible to both the young man and the woman, with one small part of it seemingly roaming around the static landscape.
Taking note of this, Valyr's eyes widened in surprise when he found out that this moving thing was none other than a rabbit.
Considering how Sellifer chose this rabbit as his first opponent in the Void World, then that meant that the rabbit before them was considered the weakest beast in the ecosystem.
Yet, from the aura it gave off, to its appearance, all of them instead told the young man that it was an opponent he was not ready to handle yet.
Similar to the Shadow Rabbit King he'd killed before, the pitch-black rabbit in Valyr's eyes was at least a meter taller than the former, its eyes and teeth glinting under the illumination of Sellifer's light.
"[Superior Analysis]."
Keeping an eye on where the rabbit was, as well as its proximity to him, Valyr carefully activated his trusty identification skill on his soon-to-be opponent, only to feel immense dread the instant he looked at it.
Ding!

Skills: ??? (skills unknown due to great disparity in level)
Remarks: One of the weakest creatures within the Void World, the Void Rabbit is considered the prey of many of the beasts lurking within the darkness.
You've got massive balls to try and fight against this beast. You may be talented, but nowhere near talented enough to surmount such a gap.
Though the HP and MP values of his soon-to-be opponent were still within his expectations, the same could not be said for the other figures that were shown on its status screen.
If he were to compared its Attack and Defense stat to the Shadow Rabbit King he fought before, the Void Rabbit boasted both an Attack and Defense stat that was around three to four times higher than that.
As for its other stats, though the gap between it and the Shadow Rabbit King wasn't large, the Void Rabbit still boasted stats around twice as high than the former, reminding Valyr that there was a large gap he needed to cross first in order to fight it.
Briefly thinking about how he'd stack up against this rabbit if he were to go all out on his stat- boosting buffs, Valyr recalled his fight against Daon and Dawan, only to bitterly smile soon after.
'And here I thought I've already accumulated more than enough strength to fight against a Myth-level being,' thought the young man to himself. 'Who knew fighting a true Myth-level being at my current level would be this daunting?'
Having already experienced the Myth level in his previous life, Valyr more or less knew the reason why the rabbit's stats were that high.
If he were to exclude the system's way of making monsters more terrifying through the tier system and the titled boss system, then both monsters and players basically had four reasons why Myths were far stronger than even Legends.
Concepts, Legacies, Armaments, and Domains.
Concepts acted as one of the requirements needed for one to become a Myth, being the end goal for a Legend's Force to evolve into.
Unlike a Force or an Intent, Concepts boosted one's Attack coefficient by a constant, yet high number.
But of course, there were still methods where it was possible to boost this value even further, only being available once one got further into their status as a Myth.
However, what truly separated Concepts from either Forces or Intents was the fact that Concepts also affected one's Defense coefficient, giving Myths the ability to take minimal damage from Legends if they wanted to.
As for Legacies, aside from being the other requirement needed to become a Myth, these acted as the crystallization and culmination of one's journey through the ranks thus far, being similar to Concepts in that regard where it relied on comprehension.
Though, unlike Concepts, Legacies gave beings a large flat boost to all of their attributes, further expanding the gap in strength between Myths and Legends.
On the other hand, Armaments and Domains were only available after one became a bona fide
Myth.
Armaments served as a crystallization of one's Concept, giving the being the ability to enhance their Attack and Defense to a considerable degree without needing to activate their
Concept.
With that being said, Domain could also be considered a crystallization of one's Concept.
However, rather than focus that crystallization onto one's self, this crystallization was instead focused to one's surroundings, giving one the ability to figuratively transform one's surroundings to their advantage.
Aside from that, Domains also acted as the bridge for a Myth to become a Divine-level being, just like how the comprehension of an Intent acted as the bridge for a mortal to become a
Myth-level being.
Roughly going over the information he recalled about Myths in his mind, Sellifer clicked her tongue as she used her own identification skill to gauge the strength of what would be Valyr's
first opponent.
"Well... this is definitely gonna be a challenge for you, Valyr," said Sellifer in a soft tone, though loud enough for the young man to hear. "Fortunately, the rabbit doesn't have its Concept activated, nor has it taken the steps to form a Domain just yet."
"However, it's already taken the first steps to form its Armaments, further bolstering the effects of its Rare grade Legacy."
"So, are you gonna fight against this?" asked Sellifer as she looked at Valyr. "We could always find a Void Beast at the peak of Rank 5, you know."
Continuing to look at the opponent he was going to put himself up against, the young man eventually let out a long exhale as he closed the screen he brought up.
Then, taking in a deep breath, he looked back at Sellifer with determination before nodding.
"I've made up my mind."
"Even though it seems difficult, I'll still try to defeat this Void Rabbit."
"Speaking of which, Void Rabbits are the weakest beasts in the Void World, right?" asked Valyr after that for clarification, to which Sellifer nodded in response. "Yeah. Just think of the ecosystem in the Void World as if it were like Veldanyr."
"Got it." Valyr nodded back. "Since that's the case, then all the more reason for me to fight against it. After all, how would I tackle the stronger beasts of the Void World if I don't even have the courage to fight against a Void Rabbit?"
"You could always return to the Void World after you've ascended to Rank 4 or Rank 5, you know," reminded Sellifer. "You'd have a far better shot at killing one if you were to do that." Hearing those words from her once more, Valyr briefly froze in place before giving Sellifer a
wry smile.
"I know that," said the young man. "Let's just say I wanna see how far I can go against a Void Rabbit in my current state."
At those words, Sellifer could only let out a sigh, inwardly shaking her head as she wondered why Valyr was acting so foolhardy all of a sudden.
In the end, she faintly nodded, conjuring a barrier around Valyr with her energy to protect the young man from the possible retaliation of the Void Rabbit.
Smiling back in response to the woman's actions, Valyr went ahead and took out his Supreme True Arquebus from spatial bracelet, causing Sellifer's eyes to widen in surprise.
'Is this the reason for his confidence?' asked Sellifer to herself, certain that the current Veldanyr didn't have the necessary knowhow to forge such a thing.
With that, she focused all of her attention on the young man's preparation in hopes of understanding more about it, continuing to protect Valyr from slightly afar.
Seeing the young man deftly go through the process of arming the arquebus for firing, the
thought of the young man forging the arquebus she saw appeared in Sellifer's mind, only for her to discard it soon after.
After all, through the past couple of years she'd spent with the young man back when he was still learning how to wield Azure Energy, he did not show anything of the sort that could be
traced back to blacksmithing.
'Unless... he intentionally hid it from me?'
While Sellifer was continuing to mull over this question, Valyr went ahead and activated [Extended Charge], immediately sporting a bitter smile as he thought about how he didn't have enough Prime Azure Energy to boost its efficacy by a further 20%.
'Then again, I have other areas where I could still benefit from it,' inwardly muttered the young man to himself as he proceeded to go through his stat-boosting skills.
"[Limit Break: Second Verse]."
"[First Encore]."
"[Rage of the True Wyvern]."
"[Four Paths Azure Elemental Arts: Raging Azure Phoenix]."
"[Refined Offense Aura]."
Whoosh!
Within a matter of seconds, the aura Valyr emanated immediately soared to great heights,
returning Sellifer's attention back to the situation at hand.
Though she was surprised that the young man could bolster his strength to such a degree, she
still inwardly shook her head, realizing that it still wasn't enough to fight against the Void
Rabbit.
However, that all changed when Valyr activated his Intent.
"[Truth Weaver Scripture: Tetrad]."
"[Intent of Shadow Energy]."
Swoosh!
Swiftly weaving four of his Intents together, Valyr empowered the strength of one of his
combat-related Intents as he felt the arquebus reaching its maximum limit for [Extended Charge].
With that, he activated [Mana Overdrive] from the arquebus with his Prime Azure Energy,
hoping that the small increase in damage could possibly increase his chances of dealing enough damage to the Void Rabbit.
Seeing that he had more or less prepared everything he could for the upcoming fight, he then
took a few steps forward, finally allowing the Void Rabbit to enter the range of his curse.
Squeak!!! With its eyes glowing a dark crimson the moment the curse was activated, the Void Rabbit's attention was immediately fixated on the young man, making use of its high agility to close the gap between the two of them.
Naturally, just like all of the other fights he'd gone through before, Valyr made sure that
wouldn't happen, immediately pulling on the trigger as he activated the arquebus' final skill.
"[Grand Burst]!"
Bang!
Unsurprisingly, once the arquebus was empowered with Prime Azure Energy, the beam of
light that was shot out of the barrel exuded far greater power than before, immediately
arriving at the head of the Void Rabbit before it could even react.
As a result...
'-1,504,640!!!!!
The Void Rabbit burst into chunks before it even realized what it was up against.
