“... so, Laura, do you want to explain what just happened?” I questioned.
(Depends on what you are referring to. Multiple things happened in quick succession, so in what order would you like me to go over them?) Laura asked.
(... yeah, I guess.) I went from speaking aloud, to just communicating with Laura in my head. (First of all, the star? Is that what I think it is?) I asked.
(Yes. I got upgraded from Standard to Advanced.) Laura confirmed.
(... okay. That’s good. But why? Because I summoned Exodia? Or some other reason?)
(I don’t know. I asked, but I didn’t get a response.)
(Oh yeah, can you tell me how that entire system thing works now?)
(I’m sorry, but no. I would have to be at the perfect level.) Laura apologized.
(Then it’s fine. If you can’t do it, it isn’t your fault. So, what about Pack Opener?) I asked.
(It leveled up when you went over 50 with the fusion challenge.) Laura answered. (Also, remember that you didn’t claim your reward for 65 summonings yet, so you should do that.)
(Oh. Yeah. I’ll do that.) I answered, as I claimed the Skelgon and The Snake Hair. I then quickly summoned the skeleton dragon, just to get it done. (But really. So it wasn’t Exodia that leveled up the skill, huh. I thought for sure it would have been Exodia.)
As I was recovering, I checked the next rewards I would get for the fusion challenge.

Next Reward: Amazoness Empress + Amazoness Queen |
Okay. Something actually kind of nice. Too bad I can’t get to it. I would have loved to get the card, get extra copies with Different Dimension Capsule, and then give one of each to Christina.
Well, nothing I can do about that now. I’ve summoned every single unique fusion in my collection, so until I get more, I can’t get the Amazonesses.
… but my skill did just level up, so … what changed?

[Buy Decks] (new) |
Okay. The order is definitely different. Promo Trades moved and there is a new trade or something there. And two new tabs.
I checked out the deck tab first. It was honestly nothing super special. It was basically a favorites tab. I could have up to 60 card ‘main deck’ there and a 20 card ‘extra deck’. As well as another 20 card side deck, for a total of 100 cards. My main deck could only hold, well, main deck cards. Aka. it cannot hold fusions or links. Or any other kind of extra deck monsters, but I only had fusions, and the two vampire links currently.
The extra deck on the other hand could only hold ‘extra deck monsters’. Fusions, synchros, XYZs and Links. And as I said, it had space for 20 cards.
The side deck could hold either type of cards, up to 20. I don’t really know why my skill is different from the normal Yugioh rules, as in Yugioh, you can only have 15 cards each in your extra deck and side deck, but I’m not going to question it. At least the main deck size of 60 cards was correct, as that is the upper limit to what your main deck can hold in Yugioh.
And honestly, the side deck really is just more space, as I don’t have to trade the cards from there to the main deck or extra deck to use them or anything. So yeah, while a nice ‘favorites tab’ the Deck tab really doesn’t seem to do much for me. But considering that my skill got it, there is a chance Card Summoner can get it as well, so that was good news.
Now, as for Buy Decks. I could use it to buy starter and structure decks, using both pack tokens and reprint tokens as the currency.
For starter decks, they cost me 5 Pack Tokens. Quite cheap, considering that they come with 50 cards each. Not that efficiency really matters for me.
The ones I could get are:
Six of them. By quick look, there aren’t many new cards there, but there are a few.
Dian Keto the Cure Master, Ultimate Offering, Castle Walls, Sword of Dark Destruction, Invigoration, Waboku, Lord of D., The Flute of Summoning Dragon, as well as some amount of mostly normal monsters, which I didn’t have access to yet.
Honestly, Waboku is amazing. I can set one on myself, and it will activate on its own, making me immune to any damage for a short period of time. It is the perfect defensive card to set on people. It doesn’t hurt anyone else, but it protects the person who is about to take an attack. And as it lasts for longer than just one attack, it is arguably better than the other cards I’ve set on people. And being able to get them with just 5 tokens each, that is one great deal. Just because of that, I traded for each of the Started Decks on the spot, and set a Waboku on myself. If anyone tried to hurt me with ill intent, it would activate and make me immune to basically everything.
Now, for structure decks. Their prices weren’t uniformed, but were some combination of pack and reprint tokens, totaling 10. The most common was 8 pack tokens and 2 reprint tokens, but some were 7 and 3, while others were 9 and 1. Basically double the prize of the starter decks, but I can deal with it.
For structure decks, I could get:
Dragon's Roar
Warrior's Triumph
Spellcaster's Judgment
Dinosaur's Rage
10, in total. And they seem, amazing. Well, maybe not, but they do have some cards I couldn’t access before, so I’m more than happy to get my hands on all of this stuff.
Machine Re-Volt is probably the best thought. It just has the most ‘new stuff’. And it has Ancient Gears. I love those things. Giant mechanical monsters are amazing.
Well, I guess Dinosaur’s Rage also has a ton of Dinosaur monsters that I can’t get from anywhere else yet, so that is a good second. But I’m more of a machine and dragon fan, than dinosaur, so …
But for the amazing stuff, we had the cover cards of the decks.
Dragon’s Roar has Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon.
Blaze of Destruction has Infernal Flame Emperor.
Fury from the Deep comes with Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus.
Warrior's Triumph has Gilford the Legend.
Spellcaster's Judgment has Dark Eradicator Warlock.
Invincible Fortress has Exxod, Master of The Guard.
Lord of the Storm has Simorgh, Bird of Divinity.
Dinosaur's Rage packs the Super Conductor Tyranno, and Ultimate Tyranno.
And Machine Re-Volt comes with Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon. And Ancient Gear Golem, but like Ultimate Tyranno, that isn't the cover card of the deck.
Yeah, Zombie Madness has Vampire Genesis, but I have it already, so I didn’t mention it. Well, I did now, but still. Some amazing stuff became available with these structure decks.
Now, the promo trade-in.
And what waited for me there was Shonen Jump promotional cards.
Well, the first 11 at least.
Blue-Eyes White Dragon | Red-Eyes Black Dragon | Archfiend of Gilfer |
Obelisk the Tormentor | Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon | Unity |
Yu-Jo Friendship | Judgment of Pharaoh | Magician's Valkyria |
Toon Dark Magician Girl | Victory Dragon |
Some good stuff. Too bad I just got my Ultimate Dragon, so getting it from this isn’t that amazing. But some of the other stuff is amazing. Toon Dark Magician Girl and Magician's Valkyria are both new. Unity and Yu-Jo Friendship could likely force people to do something stupid. And Victory Dragon … well, I’m actually not at all sure what it can do, but it does look cool. It is a golden dragon.
And last, but certainly not least.
“So, I guess my first Egyptian God card will be Obelisk the Tormentor, huh.” I said, as I looked at the list. “Getting a God, after summoning the god that is Exodia. Kind of funny.”
I opened the trade for Obelisk, so I could add it to my collection.
Trade in 10 ‘Divine-Beast’ type monsters for one ‘Obelisk the Tormentor’? |
[▼][▼][▼][▼][▼][▼][▼][▼][▼][▼] |
“Really!?” I yelled out. “Where in the world am I supposed to get Divine-Beast monsters to trade in for a Divine-Beast monster?”
Fuck me! … actually, don’t. I wouldn’t like that. But still. What a cockblock.
“Wait. I can just…” I got out two cards from the collection. This will work, right?
What I got out was a Buster Blader. Ironically enough, it is the monster I have the most copies of. Yeah, thank you Emblem of Dragon Destroyer. The other card I got out was DNA Surgery.
“If I just install it, I can permanently change the monster's type, I think…” I muttered to myself.
“Make my Buster Blader into a Divine-Beast. Install.” I said, to hopefully do the install correctly.
That was what I assumed would work, but instead, a small system window appeared.

A little prompt, with a dropdown menu appeared. I opened the dropdown.
Aqua | Beast | Beast-Warrior |
Dinosaur | Dragon | Fairy |
Fiend | Fish | Insect |
Machine | Plant | Pyro |
Reptile | Rock | Sea Serpent |
Spellcaster | Thunder | Warrior |
Winged Beast | Zombie |
… okay. Divine-Beast where? … It’s not there!? Why?
After calming down a bit, I looked through the list again, and noticed a few other types also missing. Both Divine-Beast and Creator God are missing, but so are Cyberse, Psychic and Wyrm. … Is it because I don’t have any monsters of those types? Or do I unlock types with some other trigger? Maybe.
Let’s run a quick test then. I decided to ‘sacrifice’ the Buster Blader for the experiment. I picked Dragon-type, and completed the install. Why not turn the dragon slayer into a dragon?
Then I got out a DNA Transplant. Then I installed it as well into the now Dragon-type Buster Blader.

[Confirm] |
Dark | Earth | Fire |
Light | Wind | Water |
Kind of expected that, but there is no Divine attribute. But I could pick any of the ‘normal’ six. Again, just to test the card out, I picked Light and completed the install. The Buster Blader in my hand was now a Light Dragon, instead of an Earth Warrior.
… well, the experiment succeeded, but it also failed. And I was so excited for a moment there. I guess no Obelisk for me, until I get other Divine-Beasts from somewhere. I did check DDCapsule, but I couldn’t get Obelisk the Tormentor with that either, so I guess I’m just SOL.
… will the Sacred Beasts be Divine-Beasts? And what about the Wicked Gods? I know they aren’t in the TCG, or the OCG, but they are in the anime/manga. And my cards do seem to follow the anime rules. You know, when something has been ‘properly summoned’ and so forth, so maybe? Maybe they will be both their card game type, as well as Divine-Beast. Like they have an effect where they are always also treated as Divine-Beast/Divine monsters.
Well, I guess I’ll find out when I eventually get them.
(Laura, can you make the trades for the new trade in cards? One of each for now, but at least two Valkyries.) I requested.
(Yes. I’ll have it done soon.) She answered. (I'll also get the new structure decks during the night, if that is alright.)
(Yeah. That's fine.) I agreed.
Well, I’m done here for today, so let’s head to the dungeon. The other dungeon. I took a giant boulder that I got because of the quarry operation, and used it to block the entrance to the dungeon. No more insects may come out.
Then I jumped into Gradius and headed over to TinaWood. I need to get the clothes I want made, and some couches for Big Core.
My dungeon visit didn’t take too long. After all, all I really had to do was get inside, enter the hidden ‘admin passage’ and do my thing. It doesn’t matter where I am in the dungeon, as long as I’m in the dungeon. And I entered the secret passage, so no one would spot me. There were a few adventurers in the dungeon after all.
First I absorbed all of the insect corpses I had. Tahlia had taken some of them apart, and gotten some materials from them, but I could still absorb some parts of them into the dungeon. It seems that as long as there is a monster core, I can pile anything around it, and absorb it for points.
… I feel like this could be used as a way to get rid of trash. Take a low rank monster core, surround it with a pile of garbage and absorb all of it into a dungeon. It can be done, right?
I tested it out with a monster core from one of the insects, as well as a pile of rocks and other stuff from my quarry operation, and it succeeded. … sadly, the points I got were not all that great.
Then I tested it with an assorted pile of throwaway monster materials and a monster core, and this time I got a nice amount of points. So maybe earth materials are just bad for getting points. Well, it is everywhere, so…
(Laura, do you know about this?)
(A little. But if you are asking me to min-max the efficiency, I cannot do it at this moment. We simply don’t have the data, and there is no system data about optimized dungeon absorption either, so we would have to do a lot of experiments first.) She answered.
(... but you knew that the dungeons could absorb anything?) I asked.
(As long as you have a monster core, yes. And you do need to match the amount of materials absorbed to the rank and size of the core.) Laura said.
(And you didn’t tell me because?)
(I didn’t think it was necessary. We don’t have access to unlimited monster cores, so we couldn’t do it anyway. I would have told you, had we come across a reliable source of monster cores.)
(... alright. I guess that makes sense. I just wish you had told me, so I could have shared that info with Christina. I think the boars around Alewatch have monster cores, right? She could have used them for trash disposal.)
(They are F-rank monsters, so yes, they do have monster cores.) Laura confirmed.
(Yeah. I thought as much. Well, I’ll just discuss it with Christina tomorrow. And if she asks, I’ll just say it has something to do with your rank or something.)
(That might not be the worst idea, but it isn’t the best either.) Laura said. (I think for now, it is better if we don’t say I’ve been upgraded. Just to avoid any more rumors.)
(... okay, if you say so. But I will still tell Lua. That is not up for discussion.)
(You are allowed to tell whomever you wish. I just want you to remember that System Support holders are seen as ‘angels’ of the system. And higher ranking holders are seen as more powerful ‘angels’.)
(... yeah, I guess. But what if I have to show my status? Won’t it show?)
(No. Not anymore.) Laura said. (As advanced, I can show myself as any rank below advanced in your opened status. I can even hide away certain parts of your status, if you so wish. While I can’t make a full fake status, it is a lot better than what I could previously do. Like hiding away individual skills, or altering the skill level others see when you open your status.)
(... so, you can mask yourself as a lower ranking system support?) I asked.
(Yes.) Laura confirmed.
(... alright. I guess we should do that. Whenever I open my status, you should show yourself as the !-mark rank, I guess.)
(Yes. Let us do that. Should I hide away some of your skills as well?) Laura asked.
(... I’m not sure. Maybe hide the Factory? And can you change Storage so it looks like Inventory instead?) I asked.
(I can only hide skills away, not change them for others.) Laura said.
(... okay. Then hide Factory from the opened status. Then lower the skill level of mana control to 8 or something, just so it isn’t 10. Put storage down to 4 or so as well, just so it is better in line with Pack Opener. And lower the level of Telekinesis to 3. And Unity to 4. I think that will do it.)
(As you wish.) Laura confirmed.
(Actually, can you alter my overall level?) I asked.
(No. I cannot touch that. Sorry.)
(That’s fine. Even the skill level altering is amazing. Thank you, Laura.)
After I did what I came to do, I left the dungeon and jumped into Gradius, so I could fly back to the village. I have a lot to talk about with Lua.
By the way, in case you were wondering how I could make a ‘three piece suit’ for the Earl, it was quite easy actually. All I really had to do was to make one with the imaginary powers I have in the Factory, then analyze it and upload that to the dungeon database. Cheat powers for the win. It isn’t exactly a three-piece suit, but something a bit more comfortable, still styled a bit like a suit. But I’ll describe it better when I hand it over to Thomas.
“... so, let me check if I have this correct.” Lua said, as she began recapping my story. “You summoned a God, and because of that, Laura’s rank increased.”
“Basically yes. But I don’t think Laura calls it rank.” I countered.
We were in the empty house in which Lua’s father used to live. I had also summoned Cosmo Queen so she could set up a barrier around the house, just to make sure no one would listen in. I trust the people here, but still. This is a bit bigger than just a trust issue.
“... Brian. You really should stop.”
“Why?”
“You can’t just summon a God!” Lua yelled at me.
“Hey! Exodia is at most a demigod.” I defended myself.
“Does it matter? Even those dragons are … are … I don’t even know anymore…”
“Sorry. But I don’t think it really matters. I just have to not use Exodia in the future, unless I absolutely must. It just is too dangerous.” I admitted.
“Yes. Please.” Lua agreed. “You don’t have to do ridiculous things all the time.”
The rest of the day was … normal. Enough craziness for one day, right?
I asked around a bit, you know, about mysterious lights to the west, but no one seemed to have noticed anything, so I think my idea with Exodia paid off. Had I ordered him to attack to the east instead, that giant flame beam thing likely would have been seen here. I just have to hope there is nothing important to the west. Not that the beam would have hit anything, but they might have seen it. When the guard asked about it, I just said I summoned this shining dragon, and I was wondering if it had been spotted here. It isn’t technically a lie.
Because of everything, I was quite tired already, so the only training I did today was a bit of sword swinging. No magic today. I also skipped today’s Level Up! Just in case the level up to Pack Opener, combined with a level to something else would get me sick.
Lua and Ria both followed my lead, saying that as they also can’t keep their practice in line with the speed at which their skills level up, that they would take a break day. Don’t know about Alice though. She probably leveled up something. But that isn’t for me to decide. She might have put in the effort again. I simply do not know. But knowing Alice, she absolutely did practice today.
Tomorrow, hopefully it will be a calm day. The first guests will arrive tomorrow. And I’ll go and get Christina and the rest who are coming from Alewatch.
Other than that, I don’t know, so I guess we will find out.
Good night for now.
