CH.262 Clearing Dungeon 27_001, part 3
CH.262 Clearing Dungeon 27_001, part 3
“Wow. A nighttime forest.” Alice announced as we got to the next floor.
After clearing four forest floors yesterday, we had decided to rest in the corridor between the floors. It wasn’t the best resting place, as monsters would sometimes travel between the floors, but with Swords of Revealing Light keeping us safe, we would be just fine.
“So it is dark this time…” I muttered.
“What do you mean?” Alice asked.
“Haven’t you realized? We have gone through four forest floors, all with a different attribute. First was water, with rain birds and aqua treants, then the flare birds and crimson treants. Next was the lapidate birds and the cotta treants. Then lightning birds and bright-wood treants. Fire, water, earth, light and now dark.” I recapped the last floors to Alice.
“Oh? I see… So then the one after this will be wind, right?” Alice deduced.
“It should be. If this dungeon follows the pattern.”
“I see… so, how do we do this floor?” Alice asked. “I kind of want to walk through it. That night sky is so pretty.”
“We can, but I’m guessing there will be some treants and birds attacking us soon.”
“But we can just use light magic on them, right?”
“Or fire. Fire might be better, because dark isn’t that good against fire, whereas light and dark cancel each other out.” I reminded her.
“Oh? So is it my turn to let loose?” Agunan asked.
“Yeah. You can burn it all down, if you want to. Burning the forest shouldn’t affect the sky, so we can have a nice walk under the moonlight sky.”
“Thank you, Master.” Agunan said, as a grin formed on his face. “Would you all please fall back to the transitional area, so you are more safe? This place is about to burn.”
… oh god. How overboard is he going to go?
Well, it is a dungeon, so why not let him play around?
“Sure. Just call us when you are done.” I told Agunan, before we all returned to safety.
But just to make sure we really would be safe, I summoned Neo Aqua Madoor to put up an ice wall between us and Agunan.
“Master, I am done.” Agunan came back after around fifteen minutes.
Neo Aqua Madoor removed the ice wall and we walked into the … what used to be a forest. Well, you could still see some trees, or treants most likely, in the distance, but there was a burned down path, more than a hundred meters wide through the forest, likely leading all the way to the boss, and/or the exit off of this floor.
“... nice work, Agunan. You made us a nice path. But are there any treant corpses left, or were they all burned down?”
“Ah? I … I apologize, Master. I didn’t realize you would want them, considering how many you collected previously, so I burned them all.” Agunan apologized, likely referring to all of the crimson and bright-wood treant corpses I collected on those floors. “I can go hunt some of the survivors, if you would like.”
“Nah. It’s fine. I was just wondering if any were left.” I responded. “If some come to attack, then we can take them down.”
Thanks to Agunan, we were able to take a nice calm walk in the moonlit … well, now the forest has burned down. It could have been romantic, but the smell was a bit bad. Well, at least it was easy.
When we reached the end of the floor, the boss was there waiting for us. A large darkness bird, which looked more like a shadow than anything else. It was an A-rank monster, just like the bird bosses of the previous floors had been, and since I only had Neo Aqua Madoor summoned, I let Agunan take the bird down.
“Brian, you don’t happen to have an extra jacket in your storage, do you?” Alice asked when we get to the next floor.
“I have extra hoodies, but not a jacket.” I told her. My storage isn’t equipped for everything, but it does have a few bits and pieces. “Do you want one?”
As we had guessed, the sixth forest floor was windy. And quite cold, because of it. The monsters here were typhoon birds, and there were also some razorleaf treants. The treants were the worse of the two, as they would shoot out massive quantities of super sharp leaves.
“Yeah. I’m not dealing with this…” I muttered, as I dug my collection. “Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!”
I decided to just summon one of my strongest dragons to take care of this. And considering how quickly Aguan dealt with the last floor, Neo Ultimate should also deal with this quickly.
Then I summoned both an Alternative Blue-Eyes, as well as an OG Blue-Eyes so we could ride them and quickly clear this floor. I think the next floor should have something different, so that will be fun. Alice and I rode the OG, while Lua and Ria took the Alternative. Agunan just flew on his own wings, after Neo Ultimate refused to let him ride her.
The boss of the floor was a tempest bird. The massive winds it caused were annoying, but wind cannot stop light, so my Neo Ultimate quickly destroyed the bird.
In the corridor leading to the next floor, we stopped for a quick lunch break, before we kept heading deeper inside.
“... an ocean, huh…” I muttered as I saw the next floor.
The stairs we had been walking down just abruptly ended, and before us laid a giant puddle of water.
“How do we get past this?” Lua asked. “We don’t really even have ground space to summon dragons. And if we use another one of those airships, and it is destroyed again, then... And that raft will break as soon as any monster even touches it” Lua said, referring to a small raft that looked like it was waiting for us. I think the intended way was to use that raft to ‘sail’ across this ocean, but that would end in your death.
“Don’t worry. I think I have something.” I reassured her. I think I have a pirate ship summon. I remember talking about it with Fantasia. Ah, there it is. “Skull Mariner.”
After I summoned the ship, we got on board and set sail. But of course this wouldn’t be that easy. After all, this ‘ocean’ was filled with monsters, so we needed to defend ourselves.
For that, I summoned Levia-Dragon - Daedalus, The Legendary Fisherman and Deepsea Warrior. Lua also summoned her Mermaid Knight and Enchanting Mermaid. With the five monsters clearing the water monsters around us, we were able to safely sail across the floor.
That was, until we ran into the floor boss. A giant shark monster. A megalodon. And the first S-rank monster we’ve run into in this dungeon.
Even with Daedalus, and the other four monsters that were fighting against it, the megalodon was stronger. It had already taken down my Deepsea Warrior, as well as Lua’s Mermaid Knight, so we were definitely on the backfoot.
“Daedalus, activate your effect!” I commanded. Daedalus effect is absolutely stupid, and I think it can use this ocean we are in for it. At least I assume so, because throughout the fight, the megalodon hasn’t even attempted to attack my Legendary Fisherman, likely because Legendary Fisherman cannot be targeted with attacks, if Umi is on the field.
After my order, Daedalus opened its mouth, before it pulled in water from the ocean. And a lot of it. Way more than its body could actually contain. After the part of the ocean we had been in had completely dried out, a beam of concentrated water shot out from Daedalus’ mouth, seeking out all of the monsters I had summoned, Lua had summoned, as well as the now grounded megalodon, striking them all. Luckily we had already evacuated Skull Mariner when the ocean floor came into view, so at least we weren’t in the affected area.
The megalodon hadn’t died from the attack, but with no sea to swim around in, it was now grounded to the sea floor. And while my Daedalus couldn’t fly, it could ‘stand’ on the sea floor just fine.
“Brian! More water incoming!” Lua told me, as she looked to where we had come from. It seems like Daedalus’ effect hadn’t drained the entire floor, just a part of it, and now the water level was trying to settle again. So we now had both the grounded megalodon, as well as that massive wave of water coming towards us to worry.
“Yeah. I got this.” I reassured everyone. “Daedalus, evolve. I summon Ocean Dragon Lord - Neo-Daedalus!”
This had already been my backup plan against the megalodon, in case my monsters couldn’t take it out. Summon Neo-Daedalus.
“Neo-Daedalus, as soon as you can, activate your effect!”
Neo-Daedalus had an effect even more destructive than the regular Daedalus. Just like Daedalus, it would destroy all other cards on the field, but unlike Daedalus, it would also destroy all cards in both players hands. … wait, it does WHAT? … oh for the…
As the big wave came closer, Neo-Daedalus took all of that water into its body, before releasing an attack. An attack that hit not just the megalodon, but also the cards Ria and Lua were holding. Luckily it did no other damage, but I still didn’t like it. While the megalodon went down, and died, all of the cards Ria and Lua were holding also ‘died’, lost their color and went on their death cooldown. Alice’s cards seemed to be safe though, as she has hers in her Card Summoner’s deck.
“Brian? … what was that?” Lua asked.
“Later. Another wave is coming in. We need to get off of this floor.” I told everyone, as I pointed out the route to the next floor.
While we were transitioning between the floors, I explained Neo-Daedalus’ effect to everyone. I also confirmed that Alice’s cards were fine. I assumed, because the effect didn’t seem to target her, but better to get the confirmation in.
As we approached the next floor, the temperature began to rise. Quickly. Ria and I were relatively fine, because our armored jackets had fire resistance, and Agunan didn’t care, but Lua and Alice were a bit less fine.
“... Brian… you wouldn’t happen to have anything against the heat?” Alice asked.
“Sorry, but no.”
“You don’t have another one of those jackets?”
“I could make one with Dungeon Founder, but the points it would take are dumb. Sure I could get a lot of points with all the monsters I’ve been taking into storage, but it would still cost me 4 times as much because I’d be doing it remotely.” I reminded her. “But I think we can just use your unique skills, can’t we? Pick monsters with fire resistant equipment, trade it over and you two turn them into a dress, or magical girl outfit respectfully.”
“Yes. I want to do that.” Alice instantly agreed. “It will be the first I make outside the factory.”
“Do you have good monsters for that?” Lua asked.
“I should. Just a sec.” I said, as I dug my collection.
I had a handful of choices to go with, with the obvious one being Legendary Flame Lord. Crimson Sentry, Fire Sorcerer, Flame Swordsman or even Infernalqueen Archfiend could work.
But the two I decided to go with are.
“Fire Princess. Blast Magician.”
“Ooh. Which one do I get?” Alice asked.
“Blast Magician.” I answered. “I think you can turn it into a nice magical girl outfit, right?”
“Yes. I think so.”
“So the dress is for me then.”
“Yes. Is that a problem? I can trade it for something else.”
“... I’m just not sure… if red is my color.” Lua quietly said.
“You’ll look great in anything.” I complimented her. “You’ll see. Agunan, Ria, you two keep guard in both directions. Lua, Alice, if you would… undress, so we don’t lose any more clothing than necessary.”
Both did as I asked, and swapped from their current outfits into their regular clothes stored in the skill. Sadly, their skills can only store one ‘regular’ outfit at a time, so once they change into those, they would have to manually switch into a set of sacrificial underwear. Lua was still a bit … shy as she undressed, so I made sure not to look, but Alice was just trying to show off her near naked body to me.
“... Alice, save that to the bedroom. I’ll activate the spell now. Tailor of the Fickle.”
I used Tailor of the Fickle to move the clothes of Blast Magician onto Alice, and then Alice used her unique-racial skill and turned them into a magical girl outfit. It took the form of a short puffy dress, with a red and orange color scheme. It also had some dark purple accent colors, as well as dark purple tights. The hat turned into two ribbons, which tied Alice’s blond hair into twin tails.
“Not bad. Not bad at all. How does it feel?” I asked Alice.
“I think it is fine. I prefer the other one, but this one does seem to insulate heat better.”
“Well, that is still good. It might also boost your fire magic, I think. Blast Magician, I’ll … destroy you now, so you can get your clothes back. Raigeki Break, I discard Outstanding Dog Marron to destroy Blast Magician.”
After that, we repeated the same process with Lua and Fire Princess. She got a long gown, looking a lot like Fire Princess’ one, and unlike Alice, Lua’s skill allows her to keep the weapon, so she got a new staff as well. I guess Alice’s skill doesn’t need to give her the weapon, as hers has that sub-part to make any weapon she can imagine, but still. Would be nice to get the weapon as well.
After destroying Fire Princess, I used two Monster Reborns to summon both of the two back. We were about to head to a fire room, so why not have some fire magicians with us, right?
Just as we had assumed, the next floor, I think this is the 43rd one, was a fire floor. Well, volcano floor to be more specific. It actually reminded me of the factory room that had been made with Molten Destruction.
I was a bit worried about things like poisonous gasses, because the volcano in the room was actively spewing out both magma and some sort of gasses, but we weren’t taking any damage, and Laura said it wasn’t anything harmful, so we just kept going.
The floor itself would have been relatively easy, because it reminded Agunan of his hunting grounds, so he was going ham, but the ground was super hot. So hot that it was actively damaging our shoes, so we couldn’t just casually walk here. So to avoid my shoes burning, I summoned two Tyrant Dragons and we just rode on them, while I let Agunan kill any monsters he wanted to.
The boss of the floor was an S-rank flame giant. It was slow, but the problem was that it radiated massive amounts of heat, to the point where it could overpower our equipment's heat/fire resistance, and cause us to … well sweat. A lot. But at the same time, one S-rank monster couldn’t stand up against Agunan and the two Tyrant Dragons who gave him additional fire power. Agunan might not have as much strength in his humanoid form, as he does in his dragon form, but all of his magical power most certainly is still there.
For those wanting my initial report on the power of S-rank monsters. I would say they are, based on the megalodon and the fire giant, around 3200/3200 in terms of a yugioh monster, or something like that. And like A-rank monsters, they do resist special effects like card effect destruction to some extent, but repeated uses can still take them down.
As soon as the flame giant went down, I collected its corpse and we evacuated the floor. We also decided to call it a day here. Partially so that I could take my and Ria’s equipment into my storage, and use the auto repair of storage to … well, repair them.
We had cleared four more floors today, and with Lua and Ria’s cards on cooldown, because of a certain incident, and the bosses now being S-rank, we decided to stop here. Thankfully the corridor between the floors wasn’t too hot, so we could still easily sleep here. Not that any of us had to go into a sleeping bag for warmth.
… wonder what will be in stock for us tomorrow? Based on the forest floors, it will be earth, light, dark and then wind floor, right? What will come after that? How many floors will this dungeon have?
