CH.191 Vampiric Body Modification
CH.191 Vampiric Body Modification
I woke up to the new day as a maid with a lantern came into my room. She was here to wake both myself and Ria up, as I had ordered them to wake me up at the same time as Ria today. I needed to make sure she is alright before I approve of her heading out for breakfast. If she needs another day of rest, she will get it.
“Ria, how are you feeling?”
“Perfect, actually. Probably even better than I was two days ago.”
“That’s good. I still want to scan you though. Just in case.”
“Of course.”
I placed my hands on her forehead and stomach, like yesterday, and let Laura take care of the rest.
(She seems just fine. But it might be good to have someone who can use a scan spell look her over.)
(Yeah. I’ll ask for that. Hopefully I can get a magic scan at some point. I wonder if space magic has one?)
After all, water magic has a scan spell, light magic has one, blood magic even has one. I don’t know if earth, fire, air or dark have one, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.
(They do, but they specialize in different parts of your body.) Laura answered. (Earth scan focuses on your skeletal structure, fire magic on your muscles, air on your airways and breathing and dark on your nervous system. This is why water and light are favored, as they govern the more general areas. Water is for blood, circulation and general tissue, and light can scan everything, though not as accurately as the others can.)
(... well, thanks for the lesson on scan magic. Now I just have to hope space magic has one. Well, I’ll have to learn space magic first.)
“Ria, you seem good to me, but I’m not a professional.” I told her before turning to the maid. “Can any of the servants here use scan magic?”
“Nina and Aila can. Do you want me to call them here?”
“No. Just have them perform the scan while you have your breakfast, if possible. If something was majorly wrong, I would have picked it up myself.”
“As you wish.” The maid answered with a small bow.
After Ria got dressed and left the room, I laid back down on the bed and jumped into the Different Dimension Factory.
After my avatar realized, Laura’s did so next to me.
“Good morning, again.”
“You never said good morning in the first place, so this isn’t ‘again’.”
“Well then, good morning.”
“Good morning. Do you want the night's report?”
“Go for it. What set did you complete tonight?”
“.”
“Oh, nice.” I pulled up the full set list and checked it.
Again, I had plenty of them already, but I was still lacking some. Exodia Necross, Kaiser Glider, still need to summon Shinato at some point, Skull Archfiend of Lightning. Also all of the Guardians are in this set. And Metallizing Parasite - Lunatite, I just need the armor for it. I guess I could just summon it and have it equip itself to me, but that has a time limit.
I also had enough Ojama Trios to give someone an army of Ojama tokens, only for the tokens to kill them when the tokens inflict damage to their controller on death.
There are also a lot of Archfiends in this set, but I’ll just let them stay in the factory. There is no need to summon one and get into trouble for it.
“Well that’s good. Anything else?”
“Tahlia has once again asked about the time seal.”
“... yeah, I know. She asked me herself yesterday. I know she wants it now, but I want the skill to LV.10 first. And it's just three more days.”
“I do agree with you. It will be better if we level up the skill when we still can.”
“And what about the blood iron and vampiric steel production?”
“Iron Blacksmith Kotetsu has learned how to make high quality blood iron, but the vampiric steel isn’t quite up to the standards the vampires want it at.” Laura said. “But as I pulled a large quantity of the smiths, their efficiency in the forge has increased even more, so they should get it in the coming days.”
“That’s good. I’ll ask Paulina about borrowing the forge, so we can make a blood iron weapon for Ria. She can practice with that before she swaps to the vampiric steel.”
I walked down the steps from the control platform, only to see someone realizing it. The short crimson hair could only belong to one person.
“Good morning, Lua.”
“Oh, Brian. Good morning. I hope you don’t mind me coming in.”
“No. Of course not. You can visit whenever you want. So, what’s up?”
“Nothing too big. Vishal’s blood magic did evolve into True Blood Magic yesterday. What about Ria? Is she alright?”
“Yeah, she seems to be. She just left for breakfast. I did check her myself, to the extent that I can, and she will get a magic scan from one of the maids.”
“You aren’t eating with her?”
“No. I do still live in a noble’s manor, so we have to follow some levels of etiquette. Having a slave, and an unconfirmed dhampir slave at that, eating with the lord of the house would be asking too much. Ria eats with the maids instead and they do seem to get along.” The unconfirmed part is referring to Ria not having her stable papers yet. But we are working on it.
“I see. I’ll be heading to the vampire room, if I may. I’ve been trying to learn how to control blood iron like Red Baron showed us.”
“Oh? Good luck. I’ll be trying to make some today, assuming that we can borrow a smithy. If we succeed, I’ll give you some when we visit tomorrow.”
We would be going again tomorrow, as we would take some blood over again. This time, it was blood hunted by the other party, so I was basically just a glorified transporter, not that I mind. It is an official adventurer’s guild quest, so I get my contribution points from it.
“I’m sorry Master, but I don’t believe that such a spell exists.” Cosmo Queen answered when I questioned her about a scan spell that would fall under space magic.
“Oh. Well, that’s too bad.”
“I could try to develop one, but I can’t guarantee the success. Space magic really isn’t designed for scanning things on that level.”
“... sure. But don’t think you have to go at it too hard. If it is impossible, you’ll just have wasted all that time.”
“Not like we have anything other than time here.”
“... good point. Sorry. I don’t exactly know what you guys, and ladies, want here, but as long as you ask, I’ll see what I can do.”
“Then perhaps I could have a room of my own to do as I wish with?”
“... do you have a plan for it?”
“Yes. I will turn it into the void of space.”
“... I guess go for it. We still have a few empty rooms. But you’ll have to share with any other monsters that like hanging out in space. At least B.E.S. Big Core and Gradius will likely invade that room.”
“I see. Yes. Thank you, Master.”
I hanged out for just a bit with my daughters, before Laura informed me that Ria and a maid had entered my room. If it was just Ria, I could have waited a few more seconds, but as a maid came with her, I had to get up on the spot, so I jumped out of the factory.
“So, how was it? Did someone scan her?” I asked the maid. She was the same one that had been in my room earlier.
“Yes. Aila performed a water scan on her and didn’t notice anything. But as said earlier, her skills don’t match up to a trained professional.”
“Well, as long as they said it is fine. And if something goes bad, I’ll just rely on my own summons.” My vampires might actually be the ones that know a dhampir like Ria the best. And blood scan does seem quite effective.
During breakfast, I asked Paulina about borrowing the forge. I then had to explain that I had a summon that could do smithing to the Earl. He also added his permission, but as the forge was more busy in the morning, when equipment maintenance was going on, I was going to visit it in the afternoon.
But that was alright with me. Ria had a new skill and we should try it out, if she is up to it.
We didn’t do it in the practice grounds, as Jonathan was there in the morning for his magic practice or something. He trains too hard. Perhaps the two fights that he has had with my monsters have motivated him more. Sure he won both times, but not cleanly.
Anyway, as I said, we were here to test out Ria’s new skill, and for that we needed a professional.
“Genesis Vampire Lord.”
I summoned my greatest vampire. When in doubt, summon the strongest thing you have. And Cain will tell me if one of the other vampires is better for what we are doing.
“Master. It is great that you have called upon me once again.” Cain said, after he appeared.
“Well, of course. I do need you, even if I summon the others from time to time when we are just out hunting.”
“Of course. I wouldn’t want to take all the opportunities to serve you on this side. But what may I do for you?”
“Did you hear that Ria learned a new skill?” I didn’t ask Laura to inform my vampires about it, but there is at least some level of chance that they would know. Because for some reason, Fantasia turned one of the empty rooms of the factory into a movie theater where they can just watch my life through my eyes. I found it a bit creepy, but let it be, as it really doesn’t hurt me. And in some situations, having the monsters know what I’m doing is actually a huge help, like when Guardian Angel Joan was able to immediately step into action with only minimal input from me after Alice got smacked with a bone.
“Yes. The information did circulate in the factory, so we did hear of it. Vampiric Body Modification. And I should teach her, I assume?”
“Yeah. You can do that, right?”
“Naturally. I’m the one that came up with that technique, after all.”
“... wait, you did?”
“I suppose that wouldn’t apply to this world, but yes. When I made this form, I accidentally came up with that technique.”
Yeah. I guess his original state was Vampire Genesis, not Vampire Lord.
He began the lesson by showing us what you could do with Vampiric Body Modification. He did everything from extending his body parts, to growing wings and even transforming into a full on bat. He also quickly revisited his Genesis form, showing it as an example of how you can use that skill to intimidate people.
“But of course, most of that isn’t something you’ll be able to do without a ton of training, so we shall start with something a lot more simple.” Cain said, after he returned to his Lord form.
“Now, just let your finger grow longer and sharper.” Cain was instructing Ria. He was extending his finger out into a long spike thingy, like he was Lust from FMA.
Ria was looking at it closely, and ended up being able to copy him, to an extent. While she could extend her fingers out in a similar manner, she couldn’t harden them like Cain did.
“It is fine even if you can’t harden it.” Cain said. “Once Master makes some blood iron or vampiric steel, you can coat your fingers in that instead of hardening them.”
“Vampiric steel? What is that?” Ria asked.
“It is simply a superior version of blood iron. We will teach you how to use both of them as soon as Master can make some.”
“Putting all the pressure on me, huh? Thanks.”
“More accurately, it will be on Kotetsu. I believe it was your plan to attempt it today, correct?”
“Yes. It was. Actually, which vampire should I summon for that?”
“Outside of myself, Voivode and Grace are the two that are best at it. And once you make some, Red Baron and Scarlet Scourge are the most skilled in using it.”
“Oh. Thanks for the info. What about this body modification?”
“We are all quite good at it, but I suppose Vamp and Grimson might be the best at teaching her.”
“Again, thanks.”
Grimson and Scarlet Scourge huh. He must have made them as well at some point.
By the end of the lesson, Ria could quite easily extend her fingers, but couldn’t yet harden them. But it should get easier as I level that skill up for her.
After enjoying lunch, I was guided by Paulina towards the knight barracks area. Specifically, their forge. Or smithy. Or whatever you call it. The place where you do the forging.
Let’s hope we can get some of this blood iron made.
