Chapter 408: Finishing the island off
Chapter 408: Finishing the island off
When looking at the complete weapon of mine, I couldn't help but feel only adoration for the ability, that somehow created something that I had no guts to claim I could do myself. Even without knowing how it improved its statistics of what bonuses it gave, just the looks alone would excuse complete lack of fighting power increase!
*Well, isn't that ability trying a bit too hard? While it seems I'm somehow still controlling it in a very general manner, I don't think I would be capable of repeating its deeds!*
"Isn't that a good thing though? At least, you won't have to worry that much when facing a super-duper-ultra-snooper powerful enemy if it can bring the absolute maximum out of your body and capabilities."
*While that's true, I would still prefer to not use my body as some ragdoll in a damned RPG game! After all, right now, instead of killing everyone around and earning those sweet sweet points for the upgrade, I'm just standing there and doing nothing!*
Right after thinking those words to Bonger, my body twitched. A fraction of a second later, my hands moved, turning the staff from horizontal to a vertical hold. Next second, the head of the staff started to shine, as I could feel a powerful gust of the energy coursing through my body and fueling my weapon before the light exploded.
But instead of a proper BOOM that Michael Bay would acknowledge, the light diffused into an insane amount of crimson red threads, each as thin as it could get, while still remaining noticeable. As those threads reached the barrier that valiantly held back all the attacks so far, instead of pushing outwards, it started to crawl on the inner side of the barrier, forming a more and more complicated and dense net. With the light continuing to shine from the staff, all the threads continued to grow until there wasn't even a single bit of barrier not covered by them, as if all the threads turned into a proper cloth.
Snap.
Instead of cracking down like all the barriers created by my conscious self so far, this one simply reached the limit of the energy that it could contain, losing its cohesiveness and instantly being assimilated by this cloth-like energy.
Only for it to finally explode outwards!
With the barrier formed previously in the shape of a dome instead of a sphere, most of the threads flew to the sides instead of the sky. The further they got, the greater the distance between each and every thread became, turning from a length that I couldn't even comprehend with how small it was, to a proper, one-millimetre space between them.
And just like my own threads of entropy, everything that stood on their path got dissected into a myriad of parts!
Ass I observed the events, it took me a while to realise that the flow of time in this vision granted by bonger was calculated to allow me to observe the details of what my body under the control of the predator's mindset was doing, not a speed that I would normally experience.
That's why I didn't notice any change to the attackers after the threads passed right through them, outside of the fact that just like my body, they remained motionless. Just a single moment later, the threads reached the maximum distance that my body could control them from, dissipating into the air.
As if the flow of time suddenly turned to normal, the entire around two hundred meters away from me, turned as empty as silent. Within a second, every building, every living being and everything neve graced with the gift of life turned into fragments, less than a millimetre wide and high.
"And here goes seven more levels."
With how most of the elite troops that Overlord could gather would be obviously gathered in his mansion or right in its vincity, killing everyone was bound to grant me some nice boost to experience.
*I don't even want to ask how much experience I will need to reach this seventy-fifth level*
While it was nice to be only six levels apart from what I wanted to reach, with most of the most profitable expbags gone, I already reached the point where killing everyone else on the island was bound to be less than enough.
Despite my inner struggle, my body didn't cease to move, as if willing to prove my words right or wrong in reality.
Without any excessive moves, my body reached with the staff forward, instantly spawning countless fireballs and throwing them to the front. As far as I could count, after throwing about thirty fireballs, I turned for about three degrees, before repeating the action. While it was quite boring to watch, when I somehow managed to distance my point of view and take a look at the surroundings, I had no way to disagree with how effective it was.
After the initial slaughter in the form of the entropy threads dissecting everything on their path, the fireballs were free to burn through everything at a longer distance. While one was just enough to turn a number of houses and trees into dust alike, with twenty of them, this island was slowly turning to look just like the one where my stronghold was settled, just that instead of yellowish dust, it was entirely covered with dark ash.
"So in the end, this island was still not enough. We are five levels away."
With Bonger dutifully reporting the progress of our mission, I pushed the thoughts how my earlier claims that I would turn this island inhabitable turned to be the truth and focused on the task at hand. While I already knew what I had to do, the fact that the ship with the two girls that I promised to save would be on our way, coupled with the fact that I had no way to precisely control what my body was doing, made me quite scared to make the necessary move.
But it was something I had to do.
After all, I need to appear on the island that the sailors told me about, as fast as possible, without being distracted by a small prey on the way!
As if my attempt at forcing the mindless body of mine into ignoring the people that I didn't want to end up killing, I could see myself kneeling down, with the head of the staff touching the ground just below my feet. Gauging the flow of time with how fast the dust in the distance was settling down, I could tell that despite turning once again motionless, it wasn't caused by some precise spellcrafting that Bonger wanted me to observe, but it was just my body taking its time to prepare something.
And just like that, the most powerful shockwave I have ever seen, erupted right from under my legs!
With the sudden change of position, the perspective at which I was observing the events turned chaotic, before going completely blank.
"Sorry about that, but I don't have any information to construct this fake view. You will have to bear with it for as long as it will take for you to reach the island."
So in the end, I won't even be able to tell if I killed Katia and Elea, huh?
