Chapter 231 - 231 Dinner <1>
231 Dinner <1>
“It’s almost time for dinner. I don’t want to starve to death here. Also, don’t you want to interact with others too? Eh wait, have you recovered yet?” Lucy looked at Kate in worry.
She didn’t know much about how Kate usually practiced since what she saw was Kate sleeping almost all the time. But she knew that Kate had to recover without using her reverse healing in order to avoid people’s eyes.
In any case, she knew very well that she has been a difficult person to deal with and Lucy didn’t want to create more trouble for her best friend.
“I have. It’s not that long for me.” Kate stretched her body.
Being an adult again made her feel much better. After having to act as a cat for a long period of time, Kate had to admit that she missed the feeling of being able to act as a human being.
There were many differences.
And Kate naturally felt that it was really good.
“That’s good. Do you feel any different?” Lucy asked curiously. She has been quite curious about this since Kate was technically the only person she knew who could change form between cat and humans.
“Not exactly.” Kate tilted her head. “I feel good.”
.....
“Let’s go eat, then.”
“Ok.”
…
While Kate and Lucy were recovering well in their room, the other got different rooms. Kyle was staying in the same room with Dylan while Jake was staying with Lotte. They didn’t even know how that man managed to coax his girlfriend into having the same room as him.
It seemed that the relationship between the two of them should progress soon enough.
The last room was given to Marc and Robby. Given the fact that Robby was very mischievous, it wouldn’t take long for the room to be in a mess.
“Have you checked?” Kyle asked slowly as he watched Dylan walked all around the room. In terms of finding bugs and so on, he and Dylan were quite good at it. At the very least, this was one of the few tactics they were taught during the time in the military.
He was busy recovering his strength and since most people couldn’t see their way of recovering aside from the fact that they were all sitting, Kyle simply didn’t care even if there were people watching.
It was Dylan who had more strength to walk around and checked the surroundings first.
“Yes. They’re cautious.” Dylan nodded and frowned.
Hearing that, Kyle was not that surprised. Seeing how many people choose to live in City H, it was impossible for them not to have some measures against some rather more powerful people or something like that. In any case, Kyle believed that the situation in City H was not as harmonious as it looked like in the surface.
“There’s still some time before dinner. I’ll check outside.” Kyle stood up and walked out of the room. He felt his hand itched a bit. Usually, he would be carrying Kate on his arm or she would meow to him.
But now, she was staying in another room.
He could only hold himself back.
“I come.”
“Ok.”
They carried their backpack and walked out of the room, looking at the scenery outside. City H was in a much better condition as compared to City E where they stayed. There were more people and there was also some other business that has been going on.
The city was not in the state of disrepair. In fact, it didn’t look that much different from the state where the mutation had occurred yet.
“Oh, you guys are walking outside.” Jake walked out with a grin. There was a bright red mark on his cheek.
Kyle glanced at it and rolled his eyes. “What did you do to be kicked out again?”
“I’m not kicked out! I just want to get some fresh air!” Jake complained.
Dylan looked at Jake silently.
Only a fool would believe it when they saw Jake’s face.
Jake raised his hand in defeat. Alright, he knew how unconvincing it was but he naturally didn’t want to share the things he did with his girlfriend.
The others also didn’t pester him.
They didn’t want to be fed with more dog food.
“What do you think of the city, Jake?”
“Huh? I think it’s very orderly like how it used to be before the so called apocalypse and these giant mutated animals appeared. I wonder how they did that.” Jake shrugged. He didn’t really care, though.
“Indeed.”
Kyle narrowed his eyes.
For the city to be this orderly, it was impossible for them to be truly because of the law. There had to be someone or an organization that was powerful enough to control the people’s lives.
But they didn’t have any rank 6 awakened.
Except for Mr. Yuri.
Kyle glanced to the distance and saw Mr. Yuri walking back. He gave some instruction to the other military members who followed him. Even though they were not using any of their abilities, Kyle could guess their ranks easily.
Rank 5.
Many of the people who followed Mr. Yuri and also the military in City H were of rank 5.
That was why they could hold on even under the siege of those rank 7 giant mutated snakes.
But they couldn’t deal with them.
So they called for reinforcement.
“Dylan.”
“Yes?”
“Can you check the current political situation? I don’t think it’s that simple for City H to be able to recruit so many powerful military officers.” Kyle narrowed his eyes.
He was once part of the military and knew that there had to be something that made the military willing to share their resources to City H.
“There has been some disputes. My father told me.” Jake turned to Kyle. “The situation at the higher ups… are not very good.”
“I see.” Kyle glanced at Dylan and the latter nodded.
“Let’s see whether we’ll be dragged into their annoying game or not.”
