Chapter 397: Fifth World: Art Of Emotional Blackmail

What Qie Xieling didn't know was that he sleepwalked to Zhao Zhi's bed because of that familiar warm Qi. The last time he was in Zhao Zhi's room he was also drawn to the man's bed for that very same reason. It was cosy and nice which led to this unfortunate event.

"Lin Lin, don't tell me you randomly get into other people's beds?" asked Wen Qinxi ready to spank him depending on his answer.

Sensing impending danger, Qie Xieling hurriedly answered with his head shaking under the quilt. "No Shixiong, just yours and father's but he kicked me out so I never went back ever since I turned four," he explained feeling wronged. He was well behaved despite his occasional arrogant behaviour.

Wen Qinxi stared at him with a look that seemed to question why so he explained further. "Bad sleeping habits. I, um... I put my foot in his mouth while asleep once so... ahem, he kicked me out."

Qie Ranzhe's actions were completely justified especially when that foot was as black as a wok. The kid simply refused to wash his feet which Qie Xieling tolerated a little but once that foot touched his lips, Qie Ranzhe imposed sanctions on Qie Xieling.

Wen Qinxi struggled to keep a straight face while putting on his brocade boots. He found it funny but he still had to maintain his act of a good model parent which was so hard. "You better stay away from my bed next time otherwise I will tell your father," said Wen Qinxi effectively using his favourite parenting card. The 'I am going to tell your father' card that's mostly used by mums to keep their kids in check.

It would have worked well too if it weren't for this black-bellied kid. "Ah, shixiong... if you tell on me then I will tell on you for hitting me last night," said Qie Xieling but seeing the look of puzzlement plastered on Zhao Zhi's face, he opened up his chest revealing a fading palm print.

Wen Qinxi, "..."

The corner of Qie Xieling's lip quirked up into a smirk before slowly vanishing under the quilt. Wen Qinxi couldn't believe it so he decided to ask a more reliable source and that source was none other than Jolie. The only flaw in this plan was whether the system would be willing to talk or not. He had already put the system in the dog house for ten days and to a lonely AI that equalled an entire month.

'Jolie,' he called out but as expected there was no response. 'Jolie, come out or I will.....,'

'You will what? Boss, you just got cancelled by me,' said the system but Wen Qinxi had no idea what it was saying.

'Huh?' he asked scratching his head in confusion. What did it mean by cancelled?

'Seriously.... are you kidding me? This is the day and age of the cancel culture and you don't know what it is? Are you sure you are a nerd? You spend your days on the internet but you don't know the cancel culture,' said the system facepalming itself.

Sometimes it felt like talking to Wen Qinxi was like speaking to an alien from as far as Pluto. Oh, that's right Pluto is no longer a planet then that would make him an alien from Saturn.

Wen Qinxi didn't appreciate being berated by an ill-mannered AI so he said, 'Hey, hey, hey... I am not a fuckin nerd, okay? I just like computers a lot.'

'Pardon me for recognizing the wrong species. I meant geek. Doesn't that better define your character?' replied the system forgetting its vow to repent and get on its boss's good side. Well, let's not forget this AI is a bonafide flip-flopper. Or better yet a wishy-washy type of AI.

'Are you going to keep insulting me or you are going to explain it to me?' asked Wen Qinxi with his impatience dangerously approaching a critical limit.

'The cancel culture is....,' said the system about to explain but Wen Qinxi interjected while swallowing down his anger.

'I meant what happened last night not that,' he said.

'Haha... oh that. Well, you did a lot of stupid shit last night that can't be described in words,' explained the system holding back its laughter, 'Words will only dilute last night's escapades so how about we watch a replay.'

Three minutes later.

"Shit!" swore Wen Qinxi kicking off the quilt without considering the lazy dumpling lying next to him.

Qie Xieling watched helplessly as the quilt flew off the bed. "Shixiong, why are you so mean to me? You hit me last night now you are kicking off the quilt," complained Qie Xieling mastering the art of emotional blackmail.

"Get up already. Your father is around?" replied Wen Qinxi as he shuffled off the bed as quickly as possible.

Qie Xieling's eyes widened like light bulbs hearing that his father was around. How Zhao Zhi knew he had no idea but he had to get out of here as quickly as possible otherwise he would be grounded for the rest of his life. The two people quickly washed up planning their grand escape.

Qie Xieling mistakenly thought Zhao Zhi was panicking because of what happened last time. Little did he know that that panic was because Zhao Zhi had committed an even greater offence that could have him six feet under by the end of the night. If Wen Qinxi watched the entire replay he wouldn't be this scared but the system had deliberately left out the part were Qie Ranzhe carried him back to town.

This had the spiteful system performing a classic scene in fairytale movies where the villain or villainess rub their hands while letting out a bone-chilling evil laugh. Luckily, Wen Qinxi didn't hear it laughing like that otherwise it would be sentenced to deletion as soon as he got out.

While the system was screwing with him on purpose, Qie Ranzhe was planning operation mission Impossible to escape the inn. The door wasn't an option so he opened the window intending to jump out. But before he could spider man this situation, Qie Xieling spoke.

"Um, Shixiong. You can't jump out of the window," said Qie Xieling looking down. Right below was Machu standing there waving at him with a radiant smile. Curious, Wen Qinxi peeped out of the window and sure enough, Qie Ranzhe's evil henchman was waiting for them.

"Crap!.... Don't you have other important things to do?" asked Wen Qinxi yelling at Machu but Machu simply smiled and waved at him.

While Wen Qinxi was trying to calculate the per cent chance of defeating Machu the door was suddenly opened with the man of the hour making his appearance.

"We are so fucked," whispered Qie Xieling.

Indeed, they were totally fucked.
