Chapter 213 Spear Scholar
Though Valyr did not directly respond to the question Wells had asked him earlier, it wasn't difficult for the latter to figure out what he was implying.
"You know of a class that has the properties I want?" Wells looked at him with expectation, his gaze filled with hope that the man before him wasn't just leading him onto something that wasn't actually there.
"I do. I even know the prerequisites to get it too." In response to the question, Valyr let out a chuckle as he took a quick glance at the customers, checking to see if any of them needed help. Seeing that there were none, he returned his gaze back at Wells before continuing.
"In fact, one of the requirements for the class I'll be telling you can actually be obtained in this city."
"Really? Is it easy to achieve?" With an excited expression on his face, Wells gave off the feeling that he was ready to leave the smithy at the very instant Valyr told him about the requirement he could obtain from the city. "Also, how many requirements do I need to fulfill before getting it?"
"Well, you'll have to fulfill five requirements to be eligible to obtain the class as your Rank 1 class, with four of them being specific skills and titles." Valyr lightly scratched his head as he pondered over something for a bit.
"If you don't mind telling me what skills and titles you own, I can tell you how many requirements you have left to get it." Hearing these words escape Valyr's mouth, Wells looked at the man before him from head to toe.
Although he did appreciate the fact that he was able to use the prestige of the man's name to leave the manor, the time they've spent together was only days at most. With that, he felt a bit of apprehension at the thought of having someone else be privy to what was more or less incredibly private information.
While Wells was at a crossroads on what to do, Valyr double checked through his memories from his past life regarding the class he was about to give to the former, making sure that the requirements he remembered was indeed the requirements needed to obtain the class.
'For an Epic class, the requirements to obtain it are pretty simple compared to similar classes.' Just as this thought popped up in his mind, Wells' expression turned into that of determination as he let out a light sigh before nodding.
'Since I'm planning to stay by his side from now on, there'll come a point where we'll have to share this information to each other anyway.' With this thought in mind, Wells requested he and Valyr head to a more private area in the meantime, to which the latter nodded in response with a solemn expression, realizing that he had forgotten to take that into consideration.
Swiftly apologizing for the slight blunder, Valyr then brought Wells to the living quarters, fulfilling the man's request. After that, he used a bit of his mana to create a barrier that blocked the corridor that led to the living quarters, telling Wells that he could now be at ease that only the two of them would be able to hear the words that would come out of his mouth.
Taking in a deep breath, Wells lightly nodded before proceeding to inform Valyr of all the skills and titles he had accrued so far, some of them even piquing the latter's interest due to the difficulty of obtaining some of them. Feeling that it was somewhat unfair, Valyr then revealed all of the skills he had that were geared towards fighting, to which Wells naturally appreciated.
"Hmm… if we take the skills and titles you already own into consideration, then you pretty much only need to fulfill two requirements left before being able to obtain the class that perfectly suits you." Saying these words, Valyr then went ahead and described the requirements Wells needed to fulfill in great detail, as well as the steps he needed to take in order to obtain them.
Naturally, Wells committed all of the words Valyr had told him just now to memory, telling the latter that he would probably fulfill one of the two remaining requirements later since there was still a ton of sunlight. Hearing that, Valyr encouraged him to do so, telling him that the last requirement was actually simple to complete since he would help him out in that regard.
With that, Wells psyched himself up to go and fulfill one of the requirements before the sun went down, prompting Valyr to dispel the barrier of mana he had propped up as the two of them returned to the smithy's storefront. Just as Wells told Valyr that he would be staying at this smithy for the meantime, which the latter did not mind, a question swiftly popped up in his mind, one that he felt like he should have asked before their entire conversation so far.
"Now that I think about it… what's the name of the class?"
"Spear Scholar." With a light grin, Valyr then bade farewell to Wells for the meantime as the latter made his way to the combat training hall to fulfill one of the two remaining requirements he had to complete. Now on his own once more, he helped a few of the customers still lingering in the smithy in making up their minds on what to purchase before proceeding to the part of the smithy that made up his workshop.
"I should get to completing those custom orders." Recalling the specifications and modifications Tryndall had mentioned to him yesterday regarding his custom order, Valyr looked through the selection of raw materials he could use, perusing through the Blacksmith Guild's contribution point shop in the meantime to find a suitable blueprint he could just modify during the forging process.
With both the materials and the blueprint now obtained, he then fired up the furnace, prompting customers who had just walked in, as well as customers who were still lingering around the smithy all this time to make their way towards the workshop, curious as to how the owner of the smithy forged equipment.
"Since it'll take a while for me to create the light armor Arcenne asked me to forge…"
"I should focus on Tryndall's saber first."
