Chapter 231 - I Felt Nothing
While they were both dancing, Jasmine secretly scrutinised the entire dance floor in search of him.
Where could he have disappeared to? I have been searching for him but he is nowhere to be seen. Is he perhaps angry with me too?
Jasmine thought worriedly. Kai has seen her dance in the club more than once so he knew that she was not a careful dancer. From the way she danced, he knew that there was something on her mind but because of the loudness of the music, he choose not to ask her what was wrong right there.
The moment it clocked midnight, Jasmine quickly excused herself from the dance floor. She has looked forward to the club outing but for some unknown reason, she did not seem to enjoy it.
Was this because the others were avoiding her or because it was Kai? She did not know the right answer for the way she was feeling.
"It felt so stuffy in there. I can finally breathe now," Jasmine muttered when she got outside the club.. She turned to look at her right-hand side. When she saw a familiar back, she called out at him.
"Jackson!" Jasmine remarked on recognising the clothes he wore to the club. She approached the figure which refused to stop walking.
"Ice Prince, that is you right?" Jasmine tried to confirm but the person still refuse to halt. She had to run to cover the huge gap between them.
"So, I was right all along but why did you ignore me? Why did you act like you didn't hear me? I thought we were cool or are we not? Did I do something to make you upset?" Jasmine bombarded him with so many questions. She held onto his right hand firmly for fear that he might walk out on her.
"You seem to be having a lot of sweet moments with your fiancee. I did not want to ruin your sweet moment with my presence and also I left because I did not feel good watching you kiss him. So, can I go now?" Jackson asked coldly not staring at her.
"What sweet time are you talking about. I kissed him because I wanted to confirm something...,"
"And you did not only confirm what you wanted but you seem to love the kiss. I know you did, so you don't have to brag it to me," Jackson said as he tried to wriggle his hand out of her grip. He did not want to act this way with her but he could not help it when he recalled the scene that greeted him when he reached the club. He can't seem to get that scene off his head and mind.
"Yeah, the kiss wasn't bad but it wasn't as good as the one we always had. I feel like something was missing when I was kissing him. I did not feel a thing when I kissed him," Jasmine said shamelessly while staring at his face.
"What do you mean?" Jackson asked, he finally turned to stare at her.
"I heard by mere kissing you can determine if you love someone and that is what I wanted to confirm before I execute my plan," Jasmine said her gaze still focused on his face.
"And what did you find out? Do you love him?" Jackson asked nervously. It was after he asked her that question that he regretted ever doing that.
What if she told him that she loves Kai, what will he do?
"That is why I told you that I felt nothing. Even my heart didn't skip the slightest bit. It didn't beat erratically like it usually did when I kissed...," Jasmine paused when she realised the nonsense she was spewing.
What the heck am I doing? Why am I explaining myself? I have never cared whether or not I am misunderstood but why does it feel like I don't want him to misunderstand what happened between me and Kai. What has come over me?
Jasmine thought as she loosened her grip around his hand. She avoided staring at his face.
"Why did you stop, continue?" Jackson urged her. He desperately wanted her to complete that sentence of hers. He vowed to give her the most passionate kiss ever if she mentions his name.
"Who does your heart erratically for whenever you kissed him? Say it," Jackson ordered when she still refused to say the words he wanted to hear.
Instead of answering his question, Jasmine brought out the phone she had put in her trouser pocket and extend the hand towards Jackson.
"You left your cellphone on the chair earlier," Jasmine said to the displeasure of Jackson. He reluctantly collected the phone from her hands.
Since she did not say what he wanted to hear, he turned to leave.
"Will you abandon me here because you are still angry at me? What wrong did I do to incur your wrath? You are being unfair, you are aware of that right?" Jasmine still standing in the same position shouted as she stare at his departing back.
"He must be waiting for you in there so go in and meet him. I am sure you enjoy his company more than mine," Jackson said waving his hand in the air. He did not even turn back to stare at her.
"What a stinky guy he is. He won't even let me escape with him," Jasmine muttered as she turned and entered the club.
"At least she admitted that the kiss we always had is good. This is a good start I guess," Jackson mumbled beaming to himself. He continued walking farther away from the premises of the club.
When Jasmine went back into the club, they only spent an hour more before she and Kai left the others who did not have their fill yet. Jane who was brutally abandoned in the club had no choice but to tag along in Kai's car despite loathing sharing the same space with Jasmine.
Jane came out of the car when it halted in front of the hotel. Jasmine wanted to immediately leave but Kai held her hand.
"Jasmine, I really want to spend some more time with you but unfortunately I have to travel back very early in the morning," Kai relayed in a sad tone.
