Chapter 880 - A Devastating Disaster
Chapter 880: A Devastating Disaster
‘Who’s there? Doesn’t look like Zhou Hao and the gang.’
First of all, it was impossible for Zhou Hao to clumsily lose his waymark. Besides, there were five of them. They could not have all lost their waymarks.
Moreover, if so unfortunate that really happened, Zhou Hao could have already sent him an SOS message.
‘I can’t abandon a Huaxia prodigy here.’
Qin Feng ordered the robo-dog to descend the airship.
Most explorers, including those from other intelligent species, were gone for now. Nangong Feiyang stood at one of the highest buildings but saw no humans within sight. His competitors from Huaxia were probably long gone.
Despair grew larger and larger in his eyes.
“Is there no one around? Help! Help me please!” Nangong Feiyang growled hysterically. His pride as a proud prodigy had deserted him.
He was a prodigy that had broken out from a branch family. His sudden emergence and unbelievable good luck had him a smooth sail until now, which fed his overconfidence. This setback had given him a huge blow.
Nangong Feiyang now deeply regretted his own arrogance. He had his chance to group up with other prodigies but decided to work alone due to competitiveness. Now, he realized how foolish that decision was.
Unfortunately, regret would not bail him out of his current predicament.
Suddenly, he heard the sound of a machine whirring. An airship descended from the sky and entered his vision.
Nangong Feiyang could not see clearly at first as his eyes were being blurred by tears. He hastily wiped away the tears and dripping mucus.
A sound came out from the airship, confirming that he was not hallucinating.
“What’s the matter? Have you lost your waymark? What the hell happened to you...?”
Qin Feng measured Nangong Feiyang closely and realized he was hardly injured. However, the weeping and the agony were not supposed to appear on the face of a nineteen-year-old prodigy.
Nevertheless, Nangong Feiyang could not care less about his demeanor now. He shouted jubilantly, “General Qin! You are still here! Thank God!”
Nangong Feiyang no longer viewed Qin Feng equally as a prodigy. He looked at Qin Feng fervently as if he had found his savior. He wished to hold his hand and never let go again.
Qin Feng furrowed his brow in disgust.
“Answer my question!” Qin Feng stressed fiercely.
Nangong Feiyang was startled. Out of embarrassment, Nangong Feiyang did not want to tell others what had happened to him. But after being pressed by Qin Feng, his final insistence crumbled and he told Qin Feng everything.
“My waymark was snatched.” Once he broke his silence, Nagong Feiyang could not stop complaining like a bullied child. He listed their offenses against him and spoke with deep resentment.
Qin Feng’s face could not be grimmer.
Someone from a different dimension had taken hold of the waymark connecting to their world? Not only that but each tribe had taken one?
A bad premonition struck Qin Feng after he remembered what happened last year.
“Did you mention anything about Immortal?”
“Immortal? What’s that?” Nangong Feiyang was clearly baffled by the question.
It was not surprising that Nangong Feiyang had never heard of Immortal due to his rank and origin.
Qin Feng thus asked using a different tone, “When you fought them, did they try to pry about our dimension? For instance, did they ask who is the strongest person in our world?”
Nangong Feiyang gave it a thought. He did not understand the alarmed look on Qin Feng’s face. Indeed, the opponents had asked something similar during their battle.
In fact, now that he recalled, they had expressed enormous interest over the S-tiers in his world and repeatedly asked about them.
“They did...” Nangong Feiyang did not know why he sounded embarrassed. He realized he had perhaps spilled more than he should.
Qin Feng pulled a long face after he received the expected answer.
“Forget it, let’s return first.”
Though he had said so, Qin Feng suddenly thought of something and turned around. His conscious power burst out and pierced right into Nangong Feiyang’s head.
Or more precisely, his conscious realm.
Nangong Feiyang’s brain buzzed loudly as he felt that his body was being controlled by someone else.
This felt exactly the same as before.
But in the next moment, he could sense that something that did not belong to his soul was terminated by Qin Feng’s powerful consciousness. That immediately lightened him up.
Nangong Feiyang immediately understood that it was perhaps a mental hint left in his soul by the prodigy from the Feathered Tribe. Otherwise, he would not have yapped away so many secrets so carelessly. He also would not have handed over his spatial rune equipment and waymark that obediently.
When the hint latched onto his soul, Nangong Feiyang constantly felt like his heart was clenched by an unseen force. But because he had been under a lot of pressure ever since he entered the Perished Land, he did not think too much about it and blamed it on his stress.
After Qin Feng helped him remove the hint, Nangong Feiyang finally recognized the source of his uneasiness.
“Let’s go!”
Qin Feng finally took out the spatial waymark this time. He imbued it with his internal force and created a spatial tunnel. After retracting the airship into his spatial rune equipment, the two men and a metallic dog walked through the spatial tunnel.
They entered and exited the emptiness quickly. When they opened their eyes again, Qin Feng and Nangong Feiyang had reappeared at the top of the Tower of Dragon Gate.
The guard, as usual, was waiting there. He was relieved to see them returning safely.
“Nangong Feiyang, your family has been worried sick. Nangong Shi has stopped by numerous times to ask about you. Luckily you made it back on the very last day. Quick, you should call him now.”
“Thank you, Mister.” Nangong Feiyang replied hastily.
The guard smiled in return. “But since you have come back so late, I bet you must have brought back a lot of loot. Remember, if you are interested in finding a buyer or a collaborator, my organization will always open its door for you.”
Nangong Feiyang’s face slightly changed. He was embarrassed, indignant, and anxious all at the same time. He had actually brought back nothing.
Pleading for help or even sympathy, he turned and looked at Qin Feng.
Qin Feng again noticed the same sight of reliance in his eyes and immediately had goosebumps.
‘Is he nineteen years old or nine years old?’
“Why are you looking at me. Not only have you lost everything, but what you did might have brought a disaster to our world.”
Qin Feng switched on his communicator. He did not contact Bai Li first since the latter had already been notified about his return through their soul bond.
He had instead dialed Long Ting’s number.
Toot... Toot... Toot... Toot...
Long Ting did not answer the phone immediately.
Something strange then happened inside the Dragon Tower space. An unknown spatial tunnel abruptly ripped apart in the air.
Then, a robust Dragon-borne emerged from the tunnel.
An oppressive aura immediately hit those inside the tower.
The aura of an S-tier!
