Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 816 Oppression (1)

Kesiah summoned her Divine Armament after declaring her intent to continue.

She would have hesitated if the silver dragon was still present, but there was nothing to fear since he had already left. The three magical beasts were still there, yes. But she never viewed them as a threat.

Magical beasts are feared by many because of their seemingly bottomless magic reserve, even without possessing a Divine Armament. In this regard, they are similar to the Beast-likes, who could manipulate the land's mana at their own will. Because of this, killing them seemed close to impossible.

But that only applied to a group of Noble mages or Eidum fighters. Armakea had their knights, whose abilities, defenses, and strengths far exceeded those of the mages and fighters of other nations. Thus, they do not share the same fear as the latter.

The knights under Kesiah's leadership had what it took to take down a magical beast or two. Not only that, Gaham, who had the highest level among them, could take on one magical beast on his own.

Kesiah, too.

To be honest, among the current generation of the Armakea Royal Family, Kesiah was by far the most powerful. Although her Divine Armament did not seem to boost her offensive power, that did not deter her from being strong. She actually did a good job in exploiting her Divine Armament's strong point when choosing her combat style.

"I'll take on the Basilisk," Kesiah declared. Her whole body glowed as her Divine Armament encased her with a ruby-red crystal full armor. The armor showed off her beautiful figure. It was not bulky and did not seem to weigh much, ensuring Kesiah's movement would not be hindered.

"I'll leave the Comodo to you, Gaham," she continued, looking at Gaham at the corner of her eyes. "If it proved too much to handle, take a knight or two to assist you. As for the Dryad, let the rest of the knights handle it."

  "Understood."

Kesiah did not wait for Gaham to cascade her order to the rest of the knights. As soon as her Divine Armament completely covered her head, she kicked off the ground and dashed toward the Basilisk.

HIIIIISSSS!

Sensing an incoming danger, the Basilisk hissed and looked up just in time to see Kesiah's incoming fist.

A tinted red light gathered around Kesiah's hand before she pulled back and used her momentum and weight to punch the Basilisk.

The Basilisk pulled back his head to avoid her fist. However, just when he thought the distance was enough to evade the attack, a red-tinted light beam shot off from Kesiah's fist and straight at the Basilisk's head.

Unable to dodge in time, the Basilisk decided to meet the light beam with an attack of his own. He opened his mouth and shot out a beam of concentrated energy.

Since the distance was too short, the Basilisk's beam attack did not gather enough power before it collided with Kesiah's light beam.

Boom!

An explosion occurred as the two beams collided, and the following shockwave forced the two back.

The Basilisk skidded backward, leaving a trail on the ground, while Kesiah stumbled back in midair. Her whole body glowed with a red tint as she forced herself to stop and regain her balance. As soon as she did, she flew back toward the Basilisk.

Meanwhile, Gaham made a mad dash forward while summoning his Divine Armament.

Like most Knights, Gaham's Divine Armament was also a weapon. Nevertheless, even among the weapon-type Divine Armaments, his could be considered rare.

A silver morning star appeared before Gaham, and he grabbed it with his right hand. He whirled the morning star with his hand, gathering enough momentum and magic energy before bludgeoning the Comodo.

At that moment, the Comodo was busy stomping and killing low-ranked Armakea officers.

Because of their low defenses and ineffective magic attacks, the Comodo easily crushed them. They could not even leave a scratch on the latter's thick scales before getting killed instantly.

Although the Comodo was focused on killing, Gaham's approach did not go unnoticed. After all, the killing intent of the latter was far too potent that any beast would be alerted by it even from a distance.

RAWRGH!

The Comodo stomped at a few beast-likes and complete beings before turning his head toward the incoming Gaham. When he roared, he also exerted power into his voice, which blew up most of the beast-likes and complete beings in front. Those fortunate enough to have been a distance away from the brunt of the Comodo's roar managed to stay alive. Nevertheless, they still suffered internal bleeding and were forced to their knees or thrown back.

Surprisingly, Gaham was undeterred by the Comodo's roar and only covered his face with his left arm to protect himself from it. His silver armor shook from the force coming from it but did not put a dent in his armor nor injure him.

Gaham uttered a hoarse cry as he raised his right arm and slammed his morning start at the Comodo's neck.

The morning star was a club-type weapon. Because its shaft was too thin and it did not seem sturdy enough to put a fatal hit on the Comodo, the others watching Gaham attack did not have any hope for him.

But the strength of Gaham's Divine Armament did not seem to be at a disadvantage just because it had a thin shaft. Before it hit the Comodo, its size suddenly tripled, and the end, where a small ball was covered with spikes, turned into something very scary.

RAWRGH!

The Comodo was shocked after seeing the increase in the size of Gaham's weapon. Nevertheless, he only let out another energy-filled roar and summoned a defensive barrier to protect himself from it.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Gaham hit the Comodo's defensive barrier. However, he did not stop with one attack. He continued to bludgeon his weapon at the Comodo's barrier, which forced the latter back with each hit.

The low-ranked officers watching Gaham hit the Comodo were dumbfounded. The morning star's size seemed to increase with every hit Gaham did, but he did not appear to be fazed at the increase in its weight. The morning star's length remained the same, but it looked more like a thick, blunt weapon because its size increased. It made the low-ranked officers wonder how Commander Gaham managed to hold it when its shaft had already grown too thick for him to grip with his two hands.

RAWRGH!

Annoyed at Gaham's sudden barrage of hits, the Comodo roared and raised its front-clawed hand. He swiped at Gaham with such vengeance that the latter barely pulled his body back to avoid it.

KKKRRSSSHHH!

Still, the Comodo's claw touched Gaham's armor and left a shallow mark.

Not done with his counter, the Comodo turned and whipped its thick, scaly tail at Gaham.

Gaham somersaulted backward, evading the Comodo's tail and putting some distance between them. Since his initial attack was forced to stop, he had to prepare and gather enough momentum before rushing in for another round of hits.

As for the Dryad, Gaham picked three knights to deal with her.

The knights summoned their Divine Armaments and attacked the Dryad in three directions: above, left, and right.

A number of low-ranked officers were also attacking her from all sides, but she was unfazed by the crowd. She summoned several roots, and using them like whips, she attacked them simultaneously.

Muffled cries of pain could be heard as the Dryad whipped her assailants. Some low-ranked who managed to protect themselves were thrown back, while most got their armor destroyed and ended up with lacerated bodies.

The three knights wielded their Divine Armaments— a sword, a spear, and a dagger— and attacked the incoming roots. However, they did not anticipate the root's hardness and only managed to leave shallow cuts on its surface.

The three knights were not disheartened after seeing this thought. Instead, they activated their Divine Armaments, and they glowed with power. They continued to cut through the roots and leave deep marks on them.

Nahir, Gidan, and the rest of the Eidums, still watching the battle unfold, felt cold sweat trickle down their backs.

They had thought the Armakea would stop their attack and retreat now that the three magical beasts were fighting against them. But against all odds, they attacked them with such zeal after regrouping. It even appeared to them that if this happened, the magical beast would be overwhelmed, and the Armakea forces could end up forcing their way toward the Eidum's side.

"Lord Nahir," Gidan started. In the end, he was unable to utter a single word.

Nevertheless, Nahir knew what he wanted to say but could not put it into words. Thus, he grunted in reply.

"I know, get ready."

The other Eidums standing nearby tightened their fists after hearing Nahir. Surprisingly, they were not afraid because they knew the Abbot was with them.

"We will use this chance to assist the magical beasts and—."

"There is no need. You guys, stay here."

They all looked at the figure that suddenly appeared.
