Legacy of the Dark Sage

Chapter 733 Sovereign Of Wings

"Wing, don't—!" Loar tried to stop her from making any move.

Unfortunately, his warning came a second late as Wing released her domain.

In an instant, the whole room was filled with a malevolent air that weighed on them. It also appeared to freeze time itself. Of course, the latter was impossible, and the feeling was only an illusion. But for her to manage this effect showcased how much control and in-depth magic knowledge she had of her innate magic.

The air around them crackled as the space with a one-meter diameter around Wing distorted, destroying everything within. Followed by her levitating in the air.

"Wing—!" Loar called yet again.

But before he could speak any further, Wing waved her hand, and he was instantly enclosed in a semi-translucent sphere.

Loar's expression changed from inside the sphere as he realized Wing had no intentions of holding back. He did not expect her to get angry so quickly. Of all the Sovereigns he knew, she was the most amicable, which was why he did not argue when she asked to come and meet his friend.

Alas, Loar failed to consider that Wing was 'amicable' when around the rest of the Sovereigns in the faction because she considered them her 'allies.'

But that was not the case in front of her enemies— or people she found annoying.

Just like how she viewed Kyran right now.

Loar's eyes slowly turned golden as he released his own domain.

Unfortunately, before his eyes could turn completely gold, the air around the sphere crackle, resulting in his magic to stop circulating.

'This...!'

[Do not interfere, Automa. I want to see how the new Dark Sage will pacify our little Wing.]

Hearing a soft and gentle voice in his head, Loar's expression turned grim. He immediately realized that the other Sovereigns had been watching them all along. They even concealed their presence so Loar and Wing would not notice them.

It seemed their nonchalant attitude was a ruse to make Loar believe they were not overly concerned about the new Dark Sage. By pretending unconcerned, they made Loar believe talking with Kyran in a more relaxed place was enough. He did not even activate all the defensive array on his ship.

'Axil,' Loar responded telepathically. 'This is not fair.'

[It is not. But why are you anxious when your friend is not?]

Only then did Loar notice that Kyran, Cade, and Nolan remained unperturbed at Wing's outburst.

Kyran, Cade, and Nolan were surprised at Wing's outburst, true. But they were not affected by her domain. The reason behind this was simple.

Even though they would meet Kyran's 'friend,' Nolan had his magic sense up all this time. He enveloped both Cade and Kyran, ready to act at a sudden notice if something unexpected happened.

Besides Nolan's protection, Cade also carried a relic that could protect them against a Sovereign's attack. This item was one of the treasures the Regis Family possessed.

The most important thing to note was even without Nolan's protection or the relic in Cade's hands, Kyran would never let anything untoward happen to them.

He was the new Void Master. His body circulated the Void energy, which could quickly eliminate any harmful energy that would try to influence him. Apart from this, like Nolan, he had his magic sense cover then them all the time. Nolan and Cade's magic sense had already reached a high level, but they did not notice Kyran's because of the nature of his magic.

In any case, Loar saw the three remained seated and looking at Wing with a calm expression.

"You do not know me before, but after today you will," Wing said as the veil on her face unfurled.

That was right. It unfurled itself like two wings, and then they fluttered while sticking out of Wing's head. Her face was now revealed, they saw three eyes instead of two, and their color was green. Tiny beads of diamonds course under her eyelids, and the skin on her face shimmered like scales— their color a mixture of light blue and light green.

Her black dress that hugged her body fluttered as four layers spread out from the back, forming four huge black wings.

After revealing her initial form, Wing did not dally and moved at once. She waved her wings, and a gust of mighty wind formed at their tips and hurled toward Kyran and the others.

The gust of wind instantly destroyed everything in their path.

But then.

Before the gust of wind could even pass through half the table, someone heaved a sigh as invisible energy spread out in all directions.

The moment this invisible energy passed through the wind, it disintegrated into bits of glittery ashes.

"What—?"

"Can we skip this?"

A bored voice reverberated in the room.

"I'm sorry if I offended you. But I honestly did not know who you were. I'll keep your name in mind from now on. Let's skip all this drama and continue with the intel."

Wing's face darkened after realizing who had spoken. She had been looking at Kyran and had not seen him move his lips. But judging from the context of the words being said just now, he was the one who had spoken.

"You..."

Only then did Wing realize Kyran had been talking to them telepathically.

"I know someone who had Air magic and noticed your aura the first time. You are called Sovereign of Wings because you developed your innate magic in that direction. I can see how much effort you placed into evolving your magic this way. From now on, I'll keep that in mind," Kyran went on to explain.

Wing's expression softened because others always referred to her innate magic as 'Wind.' They even mistook her as Sovereign of Wind because of that.

As a matter of fact, Loar was one of those who had thought she was called the Sovereign of Wind. It was initially annoying, but she forgave him since he apologized at once.

But she did not use that name as her title because her magic was not Wind but Air. In any case, for someone to actually notice it with just little interaction made her feel somewhat touched.

Finally, someone properly recognized her magic without mistaking it for Wind.

"You knew someone with Air magic?" Wing asked with a snort.

Though she was touched because Kyran did not mistake her magic, that did not mean she would relent that easily.

"Air magic is not a magic that anyone could have. How could someone like you meet anyone who possessed it."

"Zephyr."

Kyran only replied with a name, and the space behind him shifted.

BOOM!

With a loud boom, the area behind Kyran exploded as a huge Quilin appeared, destroying half the huddle room.

"Oi!" Loar could not help but shout in agony, seeing his ship destroyed just like that.

"You called, master?" Zephyr asked.

Meanwhile, Wing's eyes almost bulged the moment she saw Zephyr appear. She obviously noticed the magic energy around him was similar to hers. But that was not the reason she was surprised to see him.

It was his form! Or, to be precise, his species.

Quilins are known as the offspring of Unicorns and Dragons. For someone to be acquainted to a Quilin.... This was truly surprising!

'No, wait,' Wing shook her head inwardly as she recalled what Zephyr had said just now. 'Did he just call the new Dark Sage 'master'? T-This...!'

Wing pointed a hand at Kyran and asked accusingly, "You! How can you enslave a Quilin!"

Kyran raised his brows at her accusation.

'She was angry about that?'

This thought crossed not only Kyran's mind alone but the others.

They thought Wing would have made a fuss about suddenly summoning a legendary beast. Or, maybe she would have felt slightly degraded for being compared to a beast. Instead, she was mad about Kyran enslaving a Quilin!

Zephyr frowned at once.

"How rude! I am not a slave! I am my master's first proper Sigil."

Hearing Zephyr's words made Kyran imagine Byron crying tears of blood. The latter had always referred to him as Kyran's first Sigil and would definitely be angry if others claimed it. Byron was not lying after all. He was indeed Kyran's first Sigil.

Oh, that was right. Zephyr added a 'proper' after the first. Byron might be unable to argue with that if the latter said it that way.

On another thought, it had been quite some time since the last time Kyran heard Zephyr say, 'how rude.' It reminded him of how few cuss words the latter had at his disposal.

"'A Sigil?'" Wing repeated, her eyes widening further if that was even possible.

She was not the only one surprised.

Loar, and the rest of the Sovereigns watching this exchange from behind were shocked.

The term Sigil was not foreign to them. After all, it was associated with the most powerful species of the Higher Realm.

Dragons.
