Chapter 220 True Legacy
Kyran decided to rest for a few minutes before trying out his idea on Void creation. He also planned to use this time to sort everything he learned about this place.
Right now, he doubted a lot of things he initially knew about how the tower works. The man he just met only said a few things, but it roused far too many speculations in his mind.
He already had an inkling that the tower did not create this place, nor was it located in one of its floors but was, in fact, a different 'plane.'
When talking about planes, Kyran had been curious about the subject the moment Zephyr told them of the history his ancestor had passed onto him.
Zephyr talked about a few planes during his explanation. There was the Demon Plane, the Spirits Plane, and even the Dragon Plane. Then their plane, which was the Human Plane.
p
Obviously, the Dragon Plane Zephyr talked about was filled with dragons, while the Spirits Plane was the plane where Spirits lived. As for the Demon Plane, it was where the demons that invaded the Human Plane had come from.
Zephyr did not say it outright, but Kyran had a feeling there were more planes apart from these three he mentioned. He recalled Anette saying something about a Higher Being their master had said. Kyran guessed that 'Higher Being' must be from another plane as well.
This tower also appeared to be part of the Human Plane, yet it was not. For all they knew, it could actually be part of another plane that somehow ended up in the Human Plane. It was pretty much similar to the Regis Terram hidden in the heart of the Regis Ancestral lands. As Zephyr explained, the Regis Terram was part of the Dragon Plane that ended up in the Human Plane.
With all of these pieces of information, Kyran speculated that one way or another, different planes found their way into the Human Plane. The demon invasion was one of its results as well as the Spirits' seek for refuge.
Zephyr had explained that a thousand years ago when the Void Master appeared, the Spirits had rejoiced. Then he and the Spirits had 'disappeared' for a few months, and when they had returned, the demons had already arrived.
Kyran took note of this fact because of his predecessor's disappearance. Not only that, it was because of how Lumi almost slipped and said that her domain could not compare to his predecessor's Void Wo—whatever the Wo was supposed to be.
Of course, Kyran had an idea as to what word Lumi was going to say back then. But he did not dwell on it at the time because he had other priorities.
Thinking about that now, however, he realized that Lumi was not talking about his predecessor's domain, but what he could do using his Void Wo—whatever it was. Besides Kyran already knew what his predecessor's domain was and it was different from Lumi's because, in her domain, she could create things, while his predecessor could reject the existence of other magic.
Kyran would not understand what Lumi really meant if he had not seen the obelisks in this place. Add to that, his predecessor's words that his magic was not all about destruction, Kyran pretty much knew his train of thought was on the right track.
If Kyran had to put all of these pieces of information, he arrived at one conclusion.
The previous Void Master was able to go into different planes and 'create' things out of nothing. As to why he had to go to different planes and create things, Kyran guessed it had something to do with the reason why the Spirits went to the Human Plane to take refuge, and his predecessor's disappearance soon after.
'The Spirits' Plane probably faced something bad, that they needed my predecessor's help to create something,' Kyran pondered. Then he recalled the state of this place and his expression turned grim. 'Did he come here as a request from someone, like the Spirits? Is it a Numa? Like what that man said that lived here? But if that was the case, how did they manage to reach my predecessor? And why would he even bother to help them?'
Suddenly, Kyran recalled what the founder of the Conclave had requested for the new Time Keepers to do once the new Void Master arrived, and that was to make sure he would not die this time. Kyran had a feeling it was somehow connected to what his predecessor could do.
Kyran's head throbbed as he pondered all of these things. He rubbed his temples with furrowed brows.
'Is the Void path transported me here to understand that the matter of saving my clan is the least of my worries? That there are far bigger and more important things in play here that I have to understand?'
The more he thought of this, the more it became a possibility. His predecessor's death suddenly became a big conspiracy that did not only affect their plane but also others.
At least, that was how he saw it now.
Kyran closed his eyes and heaved a sigh. He knew that saving his clan was not the end. But this kind of undertaking was too much for him to comprehend right now.
After almost an hour of much contemplating, he finally decided, 'Let's think about it after dealing with this place first. I need to find a way to get back to the tower.'
Kyran already had an idea of what he needed to do to finish his training in this place. It was to fix those obelisks and do something about that ominous-looking blood-red tower.
'If I go there, I will definitely see that man again. Can I defeat him?' Kyran wondered.
Recalling how that man's presence was everywhere, how could he even fight? That man could probably adjust to anything in a blink of an eye because he could see any sudden changes with such a powerful presence.
'Regardless of whether I can defeat him or not, when we meet again, I will have to do what I can. I can't fall here.'
With that in mind, Kyran shifted his mindset. He would think about the rest later, but now he first had to put his understanding of Void creation into practice.
The next few hours, Kyran immersed himself in trying Void creation. He only had limited magic energy, thus, he had to make the best out of it.
Meanwhile, the lanky man Kyran met, arrived at the area where the black obelisk was.
The moment he saw the magic array as well as the annoyingly rich magic energies within, his face twisted in an ugly scowl.
'It's that guy...' He thought with eyes glinting with pure hatred and malice.
For more than a thousand years, he had done everything to destroy the obelisks that corrupted the rich death aura of his plane. If not for these obelisks, his rule in this plane would have been guaranteed.
However, a thousand years ago, a weak-looking human had appeared in his plane and built these accursed obelisks that tried to balance out all of the energies in his plane.
Soon, rich vegetations appeared and the Numas rejoiced which slowly made the death aura dwindle.
The man would not allow that. So he did everything in his power to destroy the obelisks. He even created his own tower to counter the flow of the energies of the obelisks. It also influenced the beasts to mutate and tried to disrupt the obelisks.
Right after, the death aura started to spread once more. The Numas fell into despair and the man once again felt his power regaining. His rule had returned.
However, destroying the obelisks was difficult to even for him.
So he ventured out, nurturing some of the mutated beasts to do his bidding. When the death aura had started to return, those beasts had tried to replenish the obelisk by offering their own organs. The man was annoyed. He tried to massacre all of these but they were far too many. That was why he decided to nurture his own beasts.
Now, these beasts roamed and eat most of the other mutated beasts. They still tried to fight back but it did not matter. The man's mutated beasts were powerful and intelligent. They were able to find ways to trick and trap the others.
But then the Numas started to do their own research into nourishing the obelisks.
The man had to leave his tower and also ventured out again to suppress them and kill those who opposed him.
Everything was doing fine, and yet, suddenly he lost contact with one of his mutated beasts.
After looking for it, he found a young Numa wandering around his plane.
At first, he followed him in silence, he was curious about him. How did he manage to leave and venture outside the tower?
