Chapter 250: Diplomat for the East
Chapter 250: Diplomat for the East
The day continued and the group was enjoying their meals when a group of fast approaching auras came past through the crowd and into their direction. There was a sudden pause before a burst of black and white mist entered the restaurant.
"Elliot!" Lance was the first to barge inside the restaurant stall. He had both his swords brandished glowing with a deadly light of their colors. "Where's Elliot oh."
"Lance?" Elliot stood from his seat and walked to him. "What happened? Why are you here?"
"I heard Jester bullied you," Lance said, narrowing his eyes at the clown who was waving his hands at him. "Did you bully out little Elliot, clown?"
Jester chuckled and shrugged, "Depends on what bullying is to you."
The others came inside the restaurant in a haste, almost burning the whole stall down. Ed had to place his hand on Connor's sword to stop his flames from bursting When they saw Elliot being okay, the light from their weapons ceased down and they all looked at each other.
"That darn Luck!" Connor yelled. "He told us Jester was kicking your butt. And that you're almost dying."
Jester deadpanned, "For the record, it was me who almost died."
"Shh," Ed shushed him, turning to Elliot and crossed his arms. "Do you know how worried we were when we heard this? He was like, Elliot was fighting with Jester and he didn't stand a chance. He's almost at his limit and he's going to fall soon. You should go."
"We felt the massive auras shaking the city gently from the inn, but we didn't realize that it was you until Luck came," Hope added. "He's a really mean man. I was worried."
They soon started a series of talk that overlapped each other. Elliot couldn't hear anyone anymore, not when they were talking at the same time. Elliot raised his hand and slammed his palms together.
"Calm down," Elliot said to them. "Guys, I'm really okay. No one was hurt and it was a friendly fight. It's not like it was an actual fight or something."
Lance pulled Elliot behind him and glared at the clowns. "Yeah, it wasn't a serious fight, right, Jester?"
"It was," Jester laughed. "But I wasn't able to keep up with him. He was too fast, and his raw strength is incredible and that last part."
Jester leaped from his seat and spun without any inconveniences. His body fit seamlessly through the gap of the chair and the table as he floated for a few seconds on the air before he slowly landed down on the ground.
"Your friend here has an incredible potential," Jester grinned. "How come he's not promoted yet? If Elizabeth wasn't in misery right now, I'm sure she would acknowledge him."
"And that I would." They all snapped their heads at the female voice that came from the entrance of the restaurant stall. Hair blonde and bright that appeared to be in pigtails and in swirls. Her dress was pale green with laces shaped like leaves.
Behind her were the two male Guardians who were with them in Nefantine against the White Dragon Empress.
"What has happened?" Jung crouched to her husband while they watched the scenes unfold behind the counter. "Why is Elizabeth here with Johnson and Zeus?"
As they stepped forward, Zeus grinned at them. Johnson had a stoic face that says his sorrows from Lilith's departure from her Guardianship. It was evident that they were all affected by it but Johnson was the one who held it worse.
"I came out of retirement," Zeus said. "I replaced Lilith a while ago, and Elizabeth is still unfit to become a Guardian yet."
The crowd started to from in front of the stall. The heavy tension in the air brought by the three were enough to intimidate everyone in the city. It wasn't a usual sight for two Guardians to leave their domain and then accompany a top ranking Adventurer.
There must be something that's about to happen, or something that they will reveal.
"I saw your fight against my Weyn, and I saw your fight earlier against Jester," Elizabeth said. "Elliot Max, I am recommending you to become our diplomat with our Eastern neighbors through the power of the Guardians, Johnson and Zeus. We need to reconnect with them and you, with your strength and your resolve, could make this happen."
Elliot looked at the people around him, trying to see if they all agree or not. All he could see were surprised faces, undecided in which path he should choose.
"I did not expect an immediate response," Elizabeth said. "But I do hope you're willing to reconsider my offer. There will be a lot of"
"I will," Elliot cut her off, making everyone gasp. "I need to go to the East to settle some businesses too."
"Elliot," Lance tapped his shoulder and made the smaller boy turn to him. "Let's decide tomorrow. We have a lot of things in mind for now. We don't have to do such thing."
"Cousin," Elizabeth called out with a gentle voice. "I know you just want what's best for your friend, but we need him. His purity and power is what the East needs to see for us to have an open trade with them once more."
Their friends let the fact that Lance and Elizabeth were cousins go. They were going to interrogate the prince later, but for now, it was Elliot who needs to be focused on. What path shall he choose from this?
"You know," Elliot took a deep breath. "I'll say yes, but I can only do it after the Championship of the Greats. I still have a duty to my guild."
This lit up Elizabeth's face with happiness. She nodded and bowed, "Rest assured, you and your party will have the best time in the East."
Elliot widened his eyes after what he just heard, "Wait, they're going to come with me too?"
"Why yes," Elizabeth muttered. "You are not going alone in that foreign land. That's not going to happen, don't worry."
"We're in then," Lance suddenly spoke. "I want to see what the East looked like. If you could've just told me that we're coming with, then I could've agreed sooner."
"Then I guess we made our decision," Elizabeth smiled. "Thank you, Elliot. I will now take my leave. Goodbye."
With that, the three walked out of the town square, leaving the crowd and the people inside the restaurant silent. They wanted to speak something but no words would come out.
"Did Elizabeth really came here for that?"
