Chapter 514 - Red Alert
Chapter 514: Red Alert
There were many police officers around the Statue of Liberty to maintain order.
Hearing the cry of the pervert, two officers came over.
“What’s going on?”
“Sir, this Asian hit me for no reason,” the pervert yelled, pointing at Chen Zhao.
“Can you explain?”
“He was harassing my little sister,” Chen Zhao explained indifferently. “I suspect that he has other motives and wants to abduct minors.”
“I’m not a scammer... I really am a talent scout.”
“You came over to approach them when I wasn’t there and tried tricking them to go with you. Officers, the abduction motive should be quite clear, right?”
The two officers’ expressions changed slightly. According to law, trying to invite two minors to a private location or home could be interpreted as abduction.
Of course, this pervert failed his abduction for now.
America’s laws for protecting minors were crazy.
“Sir, you said that you’re a scout. Can you provide a license?”
“No,” the pervert said.
“Then come with us for a trip to the station.”
The other police came over. He studied Chen Zhao and then glanced at Yura and Cheryl.
“They’re your sisters?”
“That’s my sister, Yura, and she’s my sister’s friend. I know her guardian too. I brought her out with her guardian’s permission.”
“Is that true, little girl?” the officer asked.
“Yes.” Cheryl nodded.
The police was just asking standard questions. As for Mr. Talent Scout, he was handcuffed by the officer, but he was still yelling, “I’m a talent scout. You can’t do this to me.”
...
Chen Zhao led the two girls to a restaurant.
They ordered three lunches. Cheryl and Yura both had good appetites.
After all, they were at the age where they grew quickly, so they ate quite a lot.
Just then, a ball of hot fire came at them.
Charlotte was here. Judging from her clothes, she was a chef here.
Chen Zhao was taken aback. “Hi, Charlotte.”
“I saw you guys inside, so I came to say hi. How’s the food? Suit your taste?”
“It’s good,” Chen Zhao said. “Charlotte, are you a chef here?”
“And the owner,” Charlotte said with a smile. “This restaurant is mine.”
Charlotte studied Chen Zhao and continued, “Mr. Chen, how come you’re shrouded by death whenever I see you? Technically, you should’ve died long ago.”
“Uh...” The three looked at Charlotte with strange gazes.
Like, they were just talking. Why was she suddenly wishing death on him?
“Charlotte,” Cheryl said seriously. “Chen is a really powerful spiritualist. No one can kill him.”
To Cheryl, Chen Zhao was undefeatable.
Charlotte chuckled. She wouldn’t argue with a fangirl over whether her idol was as excellent or strong as she thought.
However, Charlotte was a strong witch herself, so she didn’t think that a wizard could be stronger than her, let alone unable to be killed like Cheryl said.
There were too many dangers in the world. Even Charlotte didn’t dare to say that no one could kill her, let alone a wizard who was shrouded with death.
Chen Zhao was helpless. It wasn’t his fault that Blackie stayed by his side.
With Blackie by him, it would be strange if he wasn’t shrouded with death.
“Mr. Chen, I’m serious. I hope you can be careful. The aura of death on you is very heavy. This is dangerous. Perhaps, the Grim Reaper is looking at you right this moment.”
“Okay, I’ll be careful.” Chen Zhao nodded. “I have something this afternoon, so we’ll be going now. Bye.”
The medical conference was this afternoon and it was at the hotel, so Chen Zhao had to hurry back.
Even though he said he was here for the conference, he was actually here for vacation.
But he still had to attend what he must. If he didn’t even attend the conference, that would be too much.
“You two just stay in the hotel this afternoon,” Chen Zhao said. “Don’t run around.”
New York was an international city, but the title of “city of evil” didn’t come from nowhere.
The crime rate here was always very high, so Chen Zhao was worried that the two girls would get lost in the unfamiliar city.
Yura had just recovered and had to be under watch still. Cheryl also had a sensitive identity.
If she accidentally revealed her identity and was discovered by outsiders, it would be very troublesome.
“Ah...an entire afternoon...”
“The hotel is so big. There’s a kid’s corner, a pool, and a game center. There are a lot of places you can go to. I won’t even mind if you go to the bar—oh, there are stripper dances there...if you’re interested.”
Yura and Cheryl exchanged glances, clearing planning on running out by themselves.
To them, they weren’t kids anymore. They could care for themselves well.
“I know what you’re thinking. If you dare to step half a foot out of the hotel, I’ll make sure you can’t go anywhere afterward. I’ll put you two to sleep and you’ll spend the next two days in bed.”
“Okay, okay, we’ll listen to you,” Yura and Cheryl said unwillingly.
“Should I put a mark on them?” Blackie asked.
“What kind of mark?”
“A soul print. No matter where they go, I’ll be able to find them.”
“Sure,” Chen Zhao said. “Give them a soul print. I’m worried.”
Even though they agreed, Chen Zhao really wasn’t reassured with their rebellious personalities.
Or he could break their legs...
...
“Charlotte, something happened. Report immediately to headquarters.”
“What happened?” Charlotte was still busy in her restaurant.
“Red alert,” the person on the other end of the call said.
Charlotte’s expression changed drastically. Red alert!
“You’re not joking with me?”
“Even the members in nearby cities have started hurrying over. It’s the Mage’s order.”
She’d never run into this before. Apparently, the last red alert was 30 years ago.
At that time, the Evil Spirit Society and Witch Society had an all-out war. The witches suffered horribly in that battle.
She didn’t think that a red alert would happen today too.
This was the highest alert in the Witch Society. No member could be missing.
Charlotte immediately tugged off her apron and ran out of the restaurant toward the headquarters.
When she arrived, there were already dozens of witches inside and outside of the building.
Just then, a group of both genders arrived outside.
These people rushed into the headquarters. Charlotte’s expression changed. “The Sorcerer Society came too?”
